I've perused multiple threads that want to address this question but seem to always have conflicting answers.

If you put on larger tires than stock, and regear your differentials, will this correct the odometer / speedometer?

If so, does it matter whether the truck is an auto or stick?

Auto vs Stick doens't matter IIRC- and it may fix your odo- but you need to figure out what the error in your speedo is and then make sure you do the math to get the gears to make the correction.

Went one size up in tire size (265 75 16), corrected my speedo to within 1 mph of my GPS.

I went up to a 265/70/17 and my speedo is now within 1% of my actual speed.

On my stock tires it was 4% out.

    No need to re-gear.

Hmmm...another case for going with 32's (265/75x16) rather than 33's (285/75x16). I know it has been debated to death but it does beg the question of whether it fixed your speedo but now your odo is off. Of course, the odo being slow might not be a bad thing for resale.

What I'm wondering is if I were to go with 33's on my 2006 Tacoma Double Cab V6 Auto TRD Offroad and regear the differentials to 4.11 gears both front and rear, would the regear bring the speedo and odometer into the correct spec?

A regear on the auto won't make a different to the speedometer. They get the speed from the abs system. I'm not sure if the manuals are the same or not but in the auto the regear won't make a difference. I know, I regeared.

Regearing isn't going to make a difference in how fast the wheel turns. The wheel will still cover the same distance as it revolves. A larger wheel will cover more distance with each revolution so your speedometer will read lower than your actual speed. Regearing will affect how hard your engine has to works to turn the wheels.

This is true but regearing on vehicles that get their speed from the transmission will change the speedometer.
