    Hello,

I recently purchased a Base Tacoma, SR model, and want to add a trailer ball to the bumper. The black plastic cover the bumper doesn't have a piece that pops out, so wondering if I can cut out the circle to install a trailer hitch ball.

I'd buy a bolt on receiver kit. I'm not sure if they are available yet but should be before too long. I believe all the tacoma's already have the mounts on the frame so its a simple bolt on - at least thats how it was with the second generation.

+1 to that, waiting on curt to release a hitch and wiring harness for mine. Way better off going with a receiver. They usually run about $130 and like $40 for the harness!

Thanks, will most likely end up with one of those. Thing is I need to pull a small trailer next weekend, and want to install a 2" ball in the bumper. It doesn't look like the circle pops out, but I haven't gotten out there with a screwdriver to try. Once I have the hole open, am I safe for putting in a ball? Not pulling much weight.

Ya, they say you can tow 3500 from the bumper in the owners manual. Your completely safe man!

Please let us know if the hole had a cover, or if you had to cut the hole.

Why not pop off the cover, use the bumper, then pop the cover back on when you get your hitch? Then you're not cutting a hole in something you're using once?
