Searched for a while and couldn't find an answer; apologies if this has been covered already.

I saw that the Scangauge is able to read both the pan temp sensor and the converter temp sensor. I set my Ultragauge up to read trans temp per their documentation (and the good info located elsewhere on TW) but I'm unclear whether my UG is reading pan temp or converter temp.

I contacted Ultragauge, who suggested I search TacomaWorld.com because "surely someone over there has the answer." I'm amused by that response, and not terribly impressed with the level of "help" they gave.

Anyone know which temp is being displayed? Thanks in advance for the assist.

In the next chapter of amusing 'help' from the folks at UG, he suggested I disconnect each sensor to determine which one is being read by the UG. I haven't looked under the truck (and maybe it really is that easy) but it seems like a good answer to get me to stop asking.

In any event, I saw my temp fluctuate more than expected and with higher temps than I anticipated, so I was hoping it was converter temp. Towed the 4000# family camper out to the desert a couple weekends ago (through the mountains, 85 degrees outside) and although I didn't feel I was overworking the trans it spent the majority of the time right around 200 and peaked once briefly just under 240. It looks like I'll be adding an aux cooler to keep the temps down.

Well, I'm guessing the trans cooler runs through the bottom of the radiator(most vehicles do), so I'd say it will always be close to coolant temp. Even with the aux cooler mine is in that same range.
When the group buy was going on, this came up and I thought it was mentioned somewhere it takes the temp from a sensor in the lines going to or from the cooler? Never heard of it getting a reading from 2 different places, probably why the instructions don't give you a choice. Plus, how would you get the temp from a spinning object?
