just bought a real decent '08 Tundra, reg 4wd. I'm wondering about adding a limited slip, if it's worth the money. It's my first 4wd, but second truck.
I don't plan on going crazy 4wheeling, but do want to get out.
Any thoughts or suggestions? I've looked at the locking hub, but I thinks that's more for real heavy 4wheeling.
Or should I just carry a come Along?

I've used a come along to get out of some mild situations. They work, but not well. A hi lift jack is better, but still a whole lot of work. Obviously a winch is the best option, but not everyone is ready for that kind of commitment.

I carry all 3 in my truck :D

Tires should be first and learn what you can do with your truck - your skills will improve. Tru trac will be a huge help and worth the money. If you fall in love with wheeling, you're gonna end up with lockers though. Just drive it and mod as you find things you want to change.

Most importantly, remember that getting stuck is fun and it's how we become better drivers (and better at recoveries).

Thanks all. Don't have any kind of lsd diff, but went out and was impressed how well I could drive what I thought was 4wd roads, in 2wd.
The tires are awesome. I have a short box 4door truck.

You will need an air pump, but you should have that already. I can vouch for airing down in the sand. Have got stuck twice before airing down, then got myself out after airing down. I have Trailhead deflators and set them at 12psi.

The cheapest traction device you will ever have:

Many swear by them. Less than $75. Nice threaded connection so you don't have to hold it. Battery clamps (don't bother getting one with a cigarette lighter adapter - too much amperage for a good compressor). Keep your engine running while you are using this.

BTW - I've never owned this model but it is a very good, inexpensive one.

That's what I have - Q Industries. It gets quite hot after 5 minutes but it keeps ticking ... My bro got it for me from Costco many moons ago. About $50 back then.
