    Hey guy,

So I recently did the ABS kill mod (for a TRD Offroad) and used a standard 2 pin toggle switch. Everything worked great and did what it was supposed to. I kind of want to mix things up though and change to lighted rocker switch, but I have to idea how to do the wiring. The switch has three terminals: ACC, power, and ground. Will this type of switch even work? I'm a wiring noob, so please be easy on me haha.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Andy

aint gonna work. The abs kill mod is simply grounding out a connection, not powering something. That type of switch you are trying to use is meant to switch power something (like a light or an accessory). So when the 12v is switched on it powers the lil led in the switch.

And realistically, having a switch that would light up when its on makes no sense for this application... as your dash lights up like a christmas tree with it on... it would be hard not to notice that it was flipped on.

Thanks for the help man. I figured it wouldn't work. My dash does look like Christmas when I flip the switch, but I just figured and always backlit switch would look good. I guess I'll have to find a 4 pin switch.

Added a cap, thin flooring with padded carpet for camping. Added rear lights and backup camera with new 7" display head unit.
I just wanted to add something to this thread. I managed to find some seller on e-bay that makes switches for various vehicles. I bought 3 from them for my 2006 Tacoma. I got a garage door opener, fog light and rear light switch. They fit my Tacoma perfectly and look like factory! I do not have an ABS disable switch but this company does make one. The path to their site is: http://stores.ebay.com/onboardairusa/. They have lots of switches, check them out.

These switches have 4 terminals. Terminal 1 is constant 12V, terminal 2 is switched 12V, terminal 3 is dash lights and terminal 4 is ground. The OEM switches in my Tacoma provide ground to activate something. For example, the fog light relay has constant 12V on one end of the relay winding. The other end goes to the dash board switch which is then grounded when pushed. I modified my fog lights so they would work when ever I want. To do this with my new switch, I had to provide constant ground to one end of the fog light relay. My new switch then provided 12V to the other end (via existing wiring) when the button was pushed. The advantage of this approach is that my push button now lights up when pressed thus indicating its operation. The OEM switch provides no such indication either on the switch or the instrument display. To me, that is a design flaw.

Update on 12/29/15: I tried to find the ABS disable switch on e-bay from the seller on_board_air_usa and could not. That item is gone gone! I know it was offered because I have the part number (8B83GR). Also, the garage door opener button which I now have is also unavailable. I'm sorry if I misled anyone on this tip.
