I think I understand now. When I read your post you said you had it installed. You also said they added rubber and foam for the seal. I assumed you meant the installers had to add their own foam and rubber to make it seal. Am I safe to assume now that the foam and seal you are refering to come installed on the rails from the factory? . If so that clears alot up for me because I thought I would have to add my own foam and rubber. Looks like they also grinded the corners to remove sharp edges, good idea. Aside from all that how do you like it. I am torn between Access and Truxedo, waitng to see how those installs go. Then will pull the trigger on one of these two. Thanks for all your input.

Awesome. I really keep debating alot about this cover also. I love how easy the access is to 3/4 of the bed is, which I agree would be 95% of the time. Just not sure if I want to have to take it off for full access, I really need to think about how often that would actually be. I know people also like the Bakflip but not too sure I would want to lose full view out the back window, especially when launching my boat. It does look awesome. Choices, choices.

Is made by extang paid $300
Dealer cover the rest, it can be taken off and no evidence of ever being on, unlike the Toyota one.

300? Amazing deal I just googled days and they're $7800 pretty much everywhere. Well done my friend. I really like the look of the Toyota version but it scares me to hear everyone saying how much they leak. However I don't want to Tacoma yet either so it doesn't matter at this point. I hope to be an owner next year. Enjoy looks great.

Wait, so the dealer absorbed half? They didn't push you towards the Toyota one? I assume they sell this one too then also.

Here is the gap at the interface area towards the tailgate. You ca see where some daylight is seeping thru. Nothing that a touch of silicone will not fix.

Anyone want to chime in on the Access vs Pace Edwards? The Access Limited and the SwitchBlade, to be exact. I am not sure whether to go with the retractable ones with a canister, or the straight roll-up. Looks like people have had many problems with seals around the perimeter. Anyone own either of these yet, and can you comment on whats good and what bad about each?

Bak flip looks better as it sits flush, but you loose the bed cleats/rails systems which is a deal killer for me.

It won't work if you add it to your cart. So you'll have to call them or asked them to do it over the chat.

Yeah I did the same thing. They took 100 bucks off of the long bed version for me. Only paid 720 for it. I posted a installation and review on mine. Kind of leaky so far but I might had a dud. I am in contact with auto anything and they are trying to push a warranty replacement through for me.

I installed the Truxedo Lo Pro QT today.

Overall I am happy and think this is a pretty nice cover.

    Cover.jpg

In order to overcome the taper at the rear of the bed, they cut out a small section of the tonneau rail. You can see this in the pic below. The seal is not great in this area and I plan to caulk it from the inside to ensure it's water tight.

    Areatoadd caulk.jpg

My only beef is that one of the two rails wasn't cut as flush as the other, so it caused the rail to be held up, so the weather stripping wouldn't seal. I had to use my right angle grinder with a cut off wheel and finesse off a 1/16" or so of material so it would sit properly.

Something to watch out for.....Here is a picture showing the area needing trimmed.
    Cover1.jpg

Here is the first side that I had already installed that was cut properly:

    Cover2.jpg

It still sits a little higher in the back, but I believe that is intentional to help the cover drain toward the cab, keeping the tail gate area dry....because the seal seal on the tail gate, does not seem like a great seal design to me.

I don't think it will leak though since the back of the cover sits slightly higher. Also, the cover stick overlaps out beyond the edge of the seal. Only way it might leak is a driving rain toward the tail gate while parked.

    Tailgate seal:

Picture showing that tie downs can still be used....The brackets are nice and beefy and I think it's good they use 3 brackets even on the 5' bed.

Let me know if you guys have any questions... overall happy...plan to send Truxedo a note on the one issue. Need to step it up on their QC.

Those 2 holes up against the front bulkhead on top of each side next to the top of the side rails will let water in also.

Those are nice covers. Guess that is why they are the #1 best selling roll up tonneau cover on the market.

Anyone have experience with the BakFlip RollBAK G2? The thing looks good, even at a premium price. I am trying to get a handle on these things, as I have no experience. I am looking at this vs. the Access Roll-Up and the Pace Edwards Switchblade. I certainly want a roll-up (not a trifold), and assume the soft rolls offer nowhere near the protection of the canister-type aluminum rolls. Any guidance here?
