I'm thinking about maybe getting an FJC, currently I have an '05 4 door long bed tacoma. About the taco, it's been a great truck, but it's just so damn long, I don't really enjoy driving it. I refuse to parallel park it because i have no idea where the back of it ends, lol. I don't use the bed too often and think I would be happier with either a short bed taco or something like an FJ. The thing is though, I have a 5 year old son who's in a booster seat. From the threads I've read on here, it sounds like the suicide doors are a pita for getting passengers in and out of the rear seat. Is the rear seat about the same size and with similar leg room to the 4 door taco? If I got an FJ I would get a 4wd, my Taco is a 2wd, and I would like to start off roading a bit. Sorry if this is a bit rambling, I'm just looking for any insight anyone may have sticking a kid in the back of an FJ. on average, I probably haul him around once or twice a week. Thanks in advance for any insight you may be able to pass along.

Sounds like you should consider a 4runner.

Yeah, I thought about that, but I don't like the looks of the 4 runner nearly as much as the FJ.

I don't think putting a kid in the back seat is too bad on my FJ, but my son is 11. It's probably not as ease as a 4 Runner, it just takes a little getting use to. As for the back seats size, I would say that it's bigger then the back seat in my 2004 Tacoma 4 door. I would say go and try putting you kid in one and see what you think. An FJ would be much shorter than your long bed Tacoma, and wider. They ride really nice, and they are awesome off road. Just get one with ATRAC and a rear locker.

Thanks for your reply. They have one down the street at a dealer, maybe I'll just bring my kid and his seat over there and see how it goes.
Do all the 10's and newer have back up cameras?

I have a 3 year old and 5 year old - They love to ride in the FJ - I dont have any issues with getting them in and out - maybe if you have a younger kiddo that has a rear facing car seat it would make things harder- or 2 tall adults in front - but me and the wife are 5'5 so we don't have those issues
I have also had 3 car seats in the back with very little struggles

Thanks for your reply. The more I look at them the more I like them. I don't know if I will buy one before the end of the year, are things start getting crazy around now, but I will probably at least go look at a few and bring my son.
