You have the short bed going for you. The quicksand not so much. We spent 3 months making contact with 100 dealerships centered in Glendale and speaking to 49 of them. No luck finding anyone who would be getting a 7568 that we wanted. In November, my wife randomly called a dealer near where she grew up and found a 7568 within our spec range. Drove 100 miles to place a deposit and got 500 under msrp.
This process took us 3 months and it still won't be built for another 4 days....

You you even found anyone with an quicksand 7544 on a lot or in allocation?

It's an allocation. I mean I guess I would consider another color if it could potentially save me 2k. But the quicksand was really my first choice

The color really matters to me, so saving 2000 on a black tacoma would not work for me. I only want white. If you only want Quicksand, you may not be happy later with a different color. It's up to you. If you found one in allocation, that's quick

Total price after warranties and all was the $42,373.11 and the total amount price after discount was 37,992. a difference of $4,400. I didn't want to put the whole thing up due to personal info being all over these papers.

Is this good enough for you?

This is what you wrote. You didn't mention anything about 42k out the door and the 38 you paid out the door. Your final OTD price will be almost 3000 dollars less than anything I pay here in Socal due to sales tax. What else did you buy on top of the vehicle like warranties, etc?

I ask this because my OTD is 38500 for 7568 and you got the Tech Package for around 3000 and paid 3000 less tax than I will, so you're real truck price is closer to MSRP than 4400 unless you bought a ton of Warranty, tires, wheels, paint protection, etc

I bought a full 7yr 120,000 mile warranty along with protection plan on paint and cloth inside and out, tires, everything. Im fro SC so we have a limited $300 sales tax, no matter the cost of the car, never more than $300. Dealer paid "closing costs" of $289 and half of the taxes for me. I caught them at the end of the month and desperate to sell as many cars as they could. They had only sold about 10 that whole month and tried to beat a quote from another place offering 9% off the MSRP before i even started negotiating with them. This whole deal took over two months of haggling.

MSRP of everything i bought including the warranties was the $42K and OTD i Paid the $38K a difference of $4400.

    Update on this:

I'm in Northern NJ. Just put $500 down on a TRD OR 4x4 auto Blue DBLCB Short bed, w/Tow Package, Tonneau cover and bed mat. Trade in Mazda CX7 $3500.

Total including title, delivery, and taxes $36,500.

Not sure if that's a good deal or not, but it seemed hard trying to find the color and specs I wanted together.

Went to another dealer, same specs as above, $33,782, OTD. I got $4500 for my Mazda. The first dealer was charging $1695 for the Tonneau cover, this guy charged $650. I pulled the trigger on this one. Have to wait, though.

Going to first dealer tomorrow to get my deposit back.

I have been in the market to buy a 2016 Tacoma double cab 4x4. So far, the salemen have been fairly consistent with a price of $32,900 including destination fee (900). What are thoughts about going through Costco or a company's new car program that helps you get a "better" price?

If anyone is looking for a Sport DCSB In Quicksand with Tech and Perf, I have a dealer up here in WA state that will likely give you 10% or more off MSRP. They are struggling to move the car due to lack of interest in the color. Depending upon where you are located, shipping might not be a bad idea. I did it for my previous car and it cost me $500 to ship for Los Angels to Seattle. Here is what they started at, but I know they will come down from here.

Thanks for the response Burbanza! I forgot to mention, this was a long bed, which is what I want. I live in Central Oregon, so driving to Washington, not too bad, depending on the snow/rain. The quicksand is the color I am looking at, so this has piqued my interest.
