I am just wondering how you guys hook up a tow strap for retrieval purposes. I have a TRD sport and it has a loop on the drivers side at the front. I am not sure if this is just a tie down point or if it is rated for pulling. I can't find anything in the manual.

Have used those hooks many times on various types of vehicles for retrieval and they worked fine. I always keep a tow strap in my trucks.

The tow hook on the TRD Sport is usable but I believe isn't rated for very much weight. If I'm not mistaken it's only held on by a couple bolts.

Not 100% sure as I never used mine before I put the bumper on....

People here can give you solid advice but I'd reference the manual if you're unsure of your recovery points.

Thanks for responding. I haven't found anything in the manual yet but I'm not quite done reading it all. I will get a hook from the dealer installed to be sure. The picture I have isn't very good, but the loop doesn't really look like it was made for retrieval. It is in the air dam.

    +1 to this.

That little thing on the Sport that OP is showing is just a tie down for the truck during shipping or when it's trailered, NOT for towing.

Trade it in for an off road with a real recovery point.

    Yes.
the LOOP on the front driver's side is welded to the bumper support.

The HOOK on the front passenger's side is held in place with two fairly large bolts. Both should work for a constant force pull, or towing. I suspect you could get away with using a Kinetic rope on the loop as well. Although a plate bumper, with actual shackles is a better idea in the long run.
