So I'm new at all this stuff and tonight I was removing the stupid sticker decal that the dealerships put on and once I was finished I noticed my paint was scratched to hell. Any suggestions how to fix?! Thank you in advance. image.jpgimage.jpg

Wax will hide it but it may need color sanded and polished out to get rid of it. A detail shop can do it if you don't have your own supplies.

Does it catch your fingernail? If so it might be too deep. But you can at least try using a cutting compound with a polisher followed by a polish. Wet sanding helps mainly with removing orange peel in paint, not so much scratches but it can depend.

Your right if you can feel it with a finger nail it may be too deep but I've removed thousands of light scratches with 5000 grit following 3000 then 2000 grit sand paper. Usually use 3m step number 3 to remove cuts then polish.

With a process like that I can definitely see how you've removed a lot

They must now be hidden under the other scratches...

that's the thing about wet sanding though is that you're removing a small amount of paint so it'll just keep leveling off the area, so if you can get the paint level with the scratch then it'll technically be removed, of course if the scratch is deeper than the clear coat then there's nothing you can do.

then it can most likely come out of the paint

Yep, a light hand polish should take them out if your fingernail doesn't catch on them. If that doesn't work, one product I've found will work on just about any scratch that doesn't get thru the clearcoat: Scratch Out made by Kit. Just a small amount on a microfiber cloth... ten seconds of light circular motion and presto... no more scratch.

Good thing about buying a new truck is no one else scratched it all up. The bad thing I'd I made almost every scratch. Doh!

    Are floor mats a mod?
I had a little scratch on my bumper, but then I backed my truck into a dirt hillside turning around on a trail, but it had a big rock under the dirt. Now Don't notice the scratch so much! I would just take this as an opportunity to do mods to your truck! Ummm, maybe a plate rear bumper?
Or go to a paint shop. ( boring)

    he's right you know...

Get it out on the trail and that will be covered in dirt, and the rest of the truck will have the pinstripes!

What did you use to peel the sticker off, a paint scraper?

A little advise. If you try this again use a blow dryer to heat up the sticker first, peal an edge and work your way down keeping the blow dryer ahead of the sticker. ;)
