I think I will put my roof basket on the camper shell. Is this a bad idea?? I'm concerned about leaks once I drill for the mounting bars. Any body have problems like this or will some good weatherstripping do the trick?

i have yakima roof rails mounted on cap at factory. i use there cross bars to hold there cargo basket. it leaves me with many potions. i have put maybe 200lbs up there, no problems. you can buy the roof rails and install them yourself.

A friend is making a set of crossbars for me. I need them to be low profile because of clearance issues.

Can you post a picture of your basket?
I'd like to do this and I have these brackets already installed

I don't have a pic, but what I have is Yakmia cross bars mounted to my rails that are on my topper. The cargo basket mounts to the cross bars. I would go to there website and look for a pic, I hope this helps. I have the Mega Warrior cargo basket, comes in a couple of sizes. I will try and take a pic when I have it mounted on, I don't keep the basket on unless I'm going on a trip, it will be on in a week or so.
