Just wanted to get a few opinions on a scratch I didn't notice till after I took delivery of my new taco. It can be felt with my finger nail but doesn't catch. Does it look like this can be buffed out of touched up without repaint?

looks pretty deep to me take it back to the dealer and tell them to fix it. If they care about you as a customer they will do it

If it's not to deep, you can put paste wax on it a couple of times and let it dry then see if it comes out. Looks deep in the picture though. Looks like the scratch took the paint with it.

I think it actually looks worse in the pictures. I'm sure the dealership will make it right. Just hate the thought of a new truck having to be repainted.

It doesn't look as bad in the other pictures but that first picture makes it look really bad.

Yep. First photo is more in focus, it appears. Sure looks like it went thru the paint. I can't imagine anything will make that look "good as new" short of refinishing and repainting it.

You should be able to get that out. it only looks like a little bit of the clearcoat got taken off. Get some Meguiars compound and polish, Ultimate 105 and 205 are good. Put some compound on the scratch and buff the scratch till it's gone then finish it up with polish and it will look new... If it's deep you will need to wet sand it with more abrasive auto paper 1500 grit.

Get some touch up paint. Put a thin coat on and apply another one later. Use a buffer. The only one that will notice is you. The first scratch is the worst. But if you didn't do it talk to the dealer.

Activate your local lemon law. I'd ask for a new truck. Nothing good is going to come from that scratch. I bet if you dig down deeper the entire panel underneath is rusted away and crumbling apart.

All joking aside, it sucks when this happens. I had a brand new car in years ago for it's first service, which was complimentary including an oil change, etc. Got the car back and the entire front quarter panel was scratched and dented, and was OBVIOUS. Service manager tried telling me it came in like that, but I knew darn well it didnt. So we went back and looked at the intake form that we both signed that shows any body damage to the vehicle before they take the vehicle and perform the service. Low and behold there was no damage recorded by the technician upon receiving the vehicle. Looked like someone had leaned over the side without placing a mat over the panel and just scratched the heck out of the car. They finally took responsibility, gave me a loaner for a week and had their body shop repair it at no charge.

3m scratch removal system. Watch the YouTube video. I give it a 10 out of 10. It's around $18 at auto parts stores. I have Blazinblue and series of 4 scratches along the drivers rear quarter panel. After using the 3m kit, can't see a mark just like it came off the showroom. One of the scratches was even "catch the fingernail deep".
