Land cruiser front axle swap?

    I got to thinking how awesome it would be to have a Taco that had front AND rear lockers as well as still be completely Toyota. Everyone who seriously off roads uses solid axles, no question why, especially if you are into rock crawling and maximum flex. First thing that came to mind was some Aussie dudes rolling around in Land Cruisers with front and rear lockers and thought that would be awesome if someone put a Land cruiser front axle with locker into a 1st gen taco. I would personally do it on a Reg or Access cab but not sure if the 1st gen reg cab had rear lockers as an option.     Just wondering if the dimensions are close, how much metal fabrication (if any) are needed to make it work, and if there needs to be some wiring work to get everything to work.

    Just the essentials and no extra fluff.
    I think if it was super easy we would probably have heard about it being done. I imagine that with super star fabrication skills anything is possible.

    Just figured it would be easier as both models were made in the same time and I doubt Toyota would make everything incompatible with each vehicle. Seems easier to swap than a ford axle but I wouldn't know, I just like the purity of doing swaps of common sense parts within a brand. Seems the easy way to do SAS is to redo the front end entirely where none of whats on it is Toyota anymore.

    Check in the 1st gen build's, I know that I've read a couple of threads where this has been done.
    One that comes to mind, gearhead did cruiser axles front & rear IIRC

    One can never have too many light bars.
    I think it would be easier to use the 1st gen 4runner's solid front axle.

    Solid front axles are used because they are easy and cheap. While many people complain about the lack of offroading capabilities of factory independent suspensions compared to solid axle, it is mainly because those factory suspensions are designed for the road.

    A real purpose-built offroad vehicle designed to maximize ground contact AND clearance, will generally use an independent suspension.

    Thing is, an independent suspension takes *MATH*, which offroad shops don't have. Offroad shops have guy with grinder and welder.
