I just read the thread of a member who had a horror story of a lease negotiation with his dealer. Someone asked him to post their name so other members could avoid them. I have not taken delivery of my new Tacoma but I have to beg and pry the information about my delivery from Naperville Toyota. Maybe we should establish a list of good and bad dealers.

My buying experience was okay and much of it was handled via email and a phone call or two with fleet/internet sales. I provided the VIN of a truck I found online and said this is the bare minimum what I'm looking for, gave them color preferences and told him I'd be in later that evening to test drive one. They didn't have what I wanted on the lot, so they asked me to give them a couple of days to find something and they'd call. Mid-morning the next day, they found truck with the VIN I had provided fairly close so all I had to wait for was a dealer trade and to do the paperwork. They gave me a couple grand more for my trade than I was expecting but only came down $800-1000 from MSRP on the truck and they refused to honor any USAA/Costco/Truecar pricing. Is that a bad experience? For some, maybe, but I was fully prepared to pay full MSRP because it was a brand new model year truck only out a short time. My whole deal really came down to not getting screwed on my trade, which was a 2011 Mazda 3 Touring with less than 16,000 miles on it.

My real dealership experience will be defined when I have to take the truck back for warranty service. For me, the sales process is always tedious and I'm not patient in trying to get multiple dealers engaged in a price war. How they treat me then will drive my entire perception of them. Consistently bad after-sales service and I'm likely to never buy another vehicle from them again.

We had a great experience with our Dealer Sales Rep. When we first ordered the Truck he agreed to the Costco Price, $500.00 over Invoice. Very happy with the Sale and the follow up by Beechmont Toyota, Cincinnati, Ohio. Dave Roth is the Sales Rep, and he will keep his word if you buy from him.

I had a fine experience with Hendrick Toyota in North Charleston. Deal was made relatively fast. My wife and I were in a rush to get to our anniversary dinner so we didn't have much time to chit chat. Our salesman Sami was great. They've followed up a couple times. In fact we went back to look at some other vehicles for my wife and made sure to seek him out. Only mess up was they had us sign the wrong line on our trade in and we had to return to sign; but it didn't matter because we were heading back there anyways.

My experience with Durango Motors was very good. My wait from order to delivery was 12 days. They gave me a fair price, considering the fact that it was a brand new highly desirable model that they could have sold in hours if I walked out. I'd definitely buy from them again. I've had great luck with Ram Country Toyota in south TX for previous purchases, too.

The internet has certainly made it very easy to shop for vehicles and in promise .. handle negotiations without ever having to leave the comfort of your home. In the real world that promise isn't always delivered. More than 3/4 of the dealers said they have vehicles they didn't or tagged on bogus charges to negate the deep internet discounts. Ed Morse Toyota in Delray Beach Florida however not only had the vehicle they emailed me about, but honored the price negotiated (better than everyone else in the tri-county area) via email without hassle. The entire sale process was handled promptly and professionally. If your going, PM for my name to give as a reference =)

No complaints here. I ordered and got exactly what I wanted for the pre negotiated $500 over Invoice price plus $300 Sales tax and $75 Title.

When it came in a few weeks later there were no shenanigans. Deal took 25 minutes to close.

Plus I specifically said no dealer add ons. Well they did not listen to that part and tinted my windows. (which saved me a couple hundred) Pinstriped (removed) one year ding and key protection, Nitrogen, six oil changes and a full tank of gas.

No complaints.....I tipped my sales guy and his manager $100 each for making the deal so easy......... and for the tint......

    Sparks Toyota Myrtle Beach.
