    well if you all that changed to those 285 tires with lift did not calibrate then if you are showing 16 it would actually be right at 17.5 area. Should be about 10% off. So every 100 miles your speedo is showing you are really going 110 miles. I have 16 dble cab auto sport 4x4 and I have had it one week and 500 miles so far and it is 85% hyw 15% city. Hyw is 65 to 72 mph. I have averaged 23.6 and that is hand calculated. Trip showed 23.3. I am very happy with mpg. I may still lift mine 3 in and put same size tires. Tread pattern also goes into mpg. The shifting isn't horrible to me and doesn't bother me at all but I traded in a 15 Tundra crew 4x4 tss and the comfort in it was much better as far as ride and seats. I just didn't need that big truck and tired of parking outside instead on in garage. Plus I wanted a 6 in lift and that would of pushed mpg to 10 to 12 mpg. Stock I was only getting 14 to 15 same driving as now and I am getting 23.6. Big difference and wasn't expecting that. Pros and Cons. my main deal is I wish I could get the seats more comfortable being so much harder than the tundra. Plus the adjustment difference on top. But I love the truck!!

    These things are tested for MPG in very controlled settings and parameters. I think the test speed is 55-60 mph. With all the weight placed on mpg these days, the trucks (and cars) are all designed and tuned to return maximum mpg for these tests. You should expect to see a drop once you go above these speeds. That's also why the tranny is so shift hungry. It works to keep the engine in a very narrow power band.

    I did a 170 mile road trip (in my Ford Explorer) and saw 22.3mpg round trip at 5mph over the speed limit. Did the same trip a few months later with the same load at the speed limit (major test in personal control) and saw 23.4mpg. I've averaged 10 trips to work (17 miles, mostly highway) and even see noticable differences based upon the weather. I've never reached the advertised MPG (city or highway) in any car I own. But here in the Seattle area, everything is a hill. Hills, tires, air temperature and wind all impact the performance. It's easy to think your truck has an issue when comparing it to what other's are reporting. But once you consider there are so many variables, it's hard to have an apples-to-apples comparison.

    I think you've got an awesome truck...but she's going to be a drinker at those speeds and with those tires.

    it's a truck..An OR at that it's like a Prius owner complaining about a weak top-end
