So you put a lift and more aggressive tires and lost mpg. Welcome to the club I guess :notsure:

Are you accounting for the larger tire diameter?

You went to a tire almost an inch taller, so your odometer isn't quite the same as it was before. Also, depending on what tire was on the truck, you might have picked up 10-12lbs more per tire. Something like a stock Rugged trail is about 38lbs, the bigger ATKO2 is 53lbs according to BFG. Rotating all that extra mass costs fuel.

I have no lift and replaced my stock tires with stock size BFG KO2's and had the same results -2. The price I am more than willing to pay for better tires.

I get 18.3 on stock rubber.....only 1000 miles right now and haven't had a good hwy trip to gauge, I did drive 225 miles each way DFW to Austin and barely got 20mpg...there was a hell of a head wind though....it's affected previous vehicles considerably so I won't count that against the taco

True story. I upgraded to 265/65/18 Nitto Terra Grappler G2 and Toytec suspension. My results were almost identical to yours. HOWEVER,,, I know have 2,700 miles on my truck and I seem to have picked up .5 mpg

I'm definitely not a gear head. But it does seem my fuel economy has increased slightly? I did do the TRD drop in filter and would really like to do a exhaust but I don't see to many options and I'm hesitant on this as I believe the current exhaust and ds4 engine work in harmony. I just don't want to hurt my performance. Maybe after some more miles you will pick up a little fuel economy like I did.

The heavier tire with with more aggressive tread has more rolling resistance. Most everyone I know that changes from an AT tire to a more aggressive tire loses about 2 mpg on any vehicle. Changing to a slightly taller tire won't make that much difference. You in effect change the gear ratio from 3.73 to about 3.63 with the OP's combo and if all else is equal should see a slight improvement in fuel mileage. It is when you go up to 33-37" tires that you see dramatic changes. I'm running 265/75/16's on my truck but stayed with a pretty conservative tread pattern in a P series tire. (Cooper A/T3's) That is enough tire to get me into and out of some pretty bad places. There were no noticeable changes to performance or fuel mileage.

As your tires wear they get smaller. A set of 265/75/16's with 35,000-40,000 miles on them will be about the same height as 245/75/16's new. My son is an electrician who works construction. Last year about this time he was commuting exactly 100 miles round trip to a work site. He bought new tires (same size) and the mileage changed to 95 miles round trip with the new tires.

Obviously you didnt smart-ass if you typed this. And.. yep, I knew it would drop some mpg, but for those interested to see just how much adding these popular tires and raising it a tad effects gas milage, it is informative. If you dont think think it was, then why bother taking the time to troll my thread. Nothing good comes out of it except a silly spectacle that mods end up having to jump in on.

This is what forums are for. If everyone knew everything, there there would be no point. I know you typing on a keyboard of phones makes it easy to forget you are talking to other people.

I do appreciate those with constructive comments.

Ok I am so new to the Tacoma I do not know what the shock settings mean? Are the Bilstein on my SR or are they an upgrade? BTW thank you for the tire information, I am considering upgrading my stock Toyo's to the KO2's in that same size and had wondered about the effect on the gas milage in my 4cyl!

These boys are referring to an upgraded shock - the Bilstein 5100 series which has an adjustable height of sorts. Your stock shocks don't do this.

Lots of good tire choices out there other than the KO2's which are much lighter. With your 4cyl a heavier tire is what will kill you. Stick to P rated unless you off-road and/or want to sacrifice some MPG's in the interest of puncture resistance. If so get an LT tire rather than P, C rated load. (LT265/75r16C). C load tires (6 ply) have the same stronger reinforced sidewalls as the E rated (10 ply) but are lighter and are more than adequate for a non-towing Tacoma that doesn't wheel on sharp rocks. Maybe I'm telling you things you already know.

Thanks for the information...I know very little but am having allot of fun with this truck. I had not considered the weight factor of the KO2 so glad you brought that up...

I am running 265/75/16 Cooper ATP's right now and I am considering going down to 265/70's in the KO2's just to save some weight. I just love the look of these tires, but I don't want to hurt my mpg's for them. I am considering getting some lighter rims as well. I think you really need to consider what you want out of your truck before adding mods.

I put an LT4 in my YJ turning 48's and dropped about 13mpg. I had no idea that would happen.
