Thanks for taking the time. I'll look at mine and try that but it seems like it's coming from the left drivers corner by the windshield but can also hear a little from the passenger side I'll try anything thanks

My 15 has this issue. Turned my heater/AC fan on high changes the tone, rolled the passenger window down slightly...noise stopped. I think during normal highway speeds with just the right cross wind and wind speed it's actually air being sucked out. During these conditions with my 12 Frontier the wind forces would actually pull the top of the door out...this could be easily felt with my finger tips.

Maybe they used the same adhesive on weather stripping as they did the hood

I agree the sound never changes it's always there between 35 and 45, I have taped and removed everything I can think of, I took it to the dealer again the service manager rode in it and definitely heard it he thinks it may not be wind noise but a harmonic noise he is getting with the regional Tech which is going to come out and listen. He is working on 1 of their new ones on the lot that has the exact noise, they are going to put it on the host and listen underneath at that speed an see if they can hear it. This manager has been with them a long time and sounds interested in diagnosing this problem we will see.

Mine's quiet. All speeds, all conditions. The "howling" is not right.

Garyji, you say you have no noise at any speed not even 35 to 45, I'm just wondering where your truck was assembled mine was assembled in Texas. Good for you you got a good one. At the dealer where I bought mine there are other ones making the same noise. Also is your truck stock or have you changed your wheels and tires and other things?

My noise is back with a vengeance. I have an appointment this Saturday with my dealer. I am in correspondence with bob1946 and Agee with tacoBella that this isn't going to get addressed by Toyota until we bitch enough to them about it and create a paper trail. Otherwise I love the truck.

I had a windshield replaced in my 4runner once and noticed it had a whistle like noise when I got it up to speed or it was excessively windy. Took it back and come to find out it needed a tiny bit more sealant around the outside upper right drivers side edge where the glass contacted the windshield frame. At speed the wind would hit that spot just right. Fixed it anyway, was barely noticeable visually, but what a whistle! There was no air or water leak. Maybe look at your windshield seals.

I just picked up my truck tonight and was hearing it even with the radio on. Went to the toyota site and left a comment.

I don't know about it being mechanical. I hear what sounds like blowing over a soda bottle (sound resonance due to airflow) at 35-45 mph. However, if there is any kind of gust or crosswind, it definitely affects it and this wouldn't happen it if were mechanical. I am pretty sure this will turn out to be some weird part configuration that is creating the sound from airflow. I suspect it is just not where everyone is intuitively looking, like maybe the sound is traveling from down under or around the wheel well. I am going to do some poking around this weekend because it has me curious.

I would assume somewhere there is a facility that you can bring all 4 wheels up to speed (like a two-roller dyno that spins the front tires at the same rate the rear is driving). This test would quickly eliminate air speed or mechanical as the culprit depending on the results.

Again, it really doesn't bug me because that kind of stuff just doesn't, but it is a good mystery that needs solving.

The real question beyond the cause, is "What's Different"? Mine and others have quiet trucks.

I took my 15 to the dealer and they called Toyota in California to see if there was a fix. They simply put new tubing between the door seal to make it seal tighter. It is working so far. Toyota is trying to find a better solution for all of us.

I notice this the other day.
Happened when driving though a crosswind. Crosswind direction was from right to left.
Didn't seem to happen when stopped with the crosswind, or when I changed direction and drove though the crosswind coming from left to right.
