5 in oval tube running board factory mounted too close to rocker bottom on 2016

Just purchased (Nov 28th), 2016 blue TRD Sport double cab 2wd auto , loaded . Excellent comfort and ride. Only shortcoming to report are dealer package installed 5 in oval tube running boards mounted too close to bottom of rocker panels therefore limiting usefulness of flat step surface.
To somewhat remedy this minor problem, had some machined solid aluminum 1 3/8 in spacer blocks (should have used at least 2in stock , but did not want to have running boards appear to be hanging on Rube Goldberg homemade junk when looking at side view of truck.
I have had Toyota , Nissan and Dodge trucks over the years and the 2016 Tacoma is by far the best truck so far for quality and comfort.
