I was hoping I could get some advice on upgrading my 16 audio while keeping my stock entune premium head unit. I will be looking for a professional audio installation place to do this for me. What I want is nice, clean, and louder. I am not really concerned with wake the neighbors bass, just something that sounds good. I am coming from a 2010 camry with the jbl which I was satisfied with. That is about the minimum sound quality that I am looking for. I am wondering if simply adding new speakers would make much of a difference, or if I would need an amp to power them, or possibly a sub along with it. Basically I am just looking for enough bare bones knowledge to go to a shop, get something decent, without getting ripped off. I know there is a wealth of information here and other places online, but I want something sooner rather than later, and it seems this would take me months of learning and research. I would greatly appreciate any help from you guys. I am located near the M.D. and P.A. line. If anyone knows of a trusted outfit to use anywhere near me, that would be great also.

My JBL system is brand new and is not that good. Only bass comes out of front door speakers and mids and tweets come from the two front windshield speakers. The rear door speakers are a full range speaker with only mediocre sound no tweeter just a cone style speaker. The JBL woofer behind the seat is ok for its compact size. As I am a stereo snob, I would replace the door speakers with three way Polk audio front and rear doors and then replace the amp with capabilities to deliver non crossover signals to all door speakers. This is sad to do to a brand new JBL system but stock is not good enough for $39,000 truck.

well the doors won't really accommodate 3 way components anymore, i assume you mean coaxial speakers?

I don't know how the newer tacoma jbl compares to what I had in the camry, but I was happy with that. I don't need top of the line, but definitely need something more. I find myself riding down the road going to turn it up to find it is up, lol.

Yes coaxial 3 way speakers in all 4 doors and a new amp that isn't cutting the mids and highs would be a great addition to the JBL factory system. If I didn't have a Rockford fosgate system in my 2015 Scion tC, I would appreciate the sound of the 16 Tacoma JBL.

I dont have the jbl in my truck. I have the stock entune premium that comes with the trd package. I had the jbl in my car I traded in. I was hoping for some advice on improving that for maybe $1000.00.

There is a great audio place in Pa. I know the owner very well. Great place to deal with. I'm not sure how far you want to drive.

I would prefer something closer, but that is only about 2 hours from me. I will look into it. Thanks for the suggestion. Only other place I have heard anything good about is Wyvon audio about 45 minutes away in North York. Info is scarce though.

You could always call them and get a price or some info on which way would be best to upgrade your system.
