@StAndrew I see you have an automatic as well. Is there any concern for the automatic with increase in power from the turbo?

I see. Running at 5psi with stock ecu and fuel I should be fine though right?

And at the cost of that, would it be worth swaping in a 5 speed? I've kinda been thinking that if the auto ever dies I kinda want a 5 speed.

Those are my thoughts as well but in the mean time, I got a shift kit. Even for 5 PSI I would get one unless you are ok with blowing your trans.

Some of this might not be right. ^^^^ I say that because you will more than likely find things you didn't expect. Fittings you may need, or don't need. Different couplers to run your ic. Stuff like that.

My fic conflicts with the stock ecu. It works, and good, but has a certain way you need to drive it

I see... Safteydang on here did a manual swap and has a list of parts and price. I'll see what it adds up to be.

And yes I realize this. Things may change. But its should be pretty close for the most part.

Yes I remember reading that about the aem fic in you build thread. Maybe I will have to go with something else when the time comes. This is all a ways away. If it will ever happen.

lol, i hope so too :D. More smiles per mile.

@StAndrew does toyota do something to the auto when they install the supercharger? It surely doesn't make much more power then a turbo at 5 psi... or will the turbo make a lot more?

So yesterday I was hearing this rattling noise, thought maybe it was just something in the bed. Well this morning on our way to go duck hunting I hear the same noise but it was much worse. I could tell it was coming from the center of the truck, and right then I figured it was the carrier bearing....crawled under the truck and sure enough it was, has a bunch of play in it.... What makes it worse is I have a 4 hour drive home from school today....

No they don't but they should. I'm not sure how much power 5PSI will make as it depends on the efficiency of the turbo really.

PSI is build in a forced induction engine two ways: volume (moles) of air forced into the engine and temperature. The more efficient the turbo/SC, the more likely your boost is being build from actually moving air. The less efficient, the more the boost is built from increasing temperature. Typically SC's are less efficient than turbos; you will probably generate more power / boost with your turbo than someone with a TRD S/C.

As for the trans, it will ultimately come down to your driving habits. If you want to drive hard and fast, you will want the kit, turbo or no. It will make your trans shift harder and crisper and reduce wear on your clutches under hard acceleration.

Got a bunch of things done this past week...

Replaced my carrier bearing, old one was shot

    replaced walmart antenna with OEM

    Beat in pinch weld

    Replaced steering rack boot

    Replaced rear axle seal

old - Looks like whoever put it in there had no idea what he was doing
    new
    mounted ulta guage

mounted my uws toolbox I got for Christmas
good place for all my stickers

    rear diff breather mod

found out booth cv inner boots are junk

front dics are shot, they both look like this. Getting tundra breaks next.

Also took off my elocker to try to fix it and it was not salvagable. Made a plate to cover the whole in the diff. I'll post pics of it soon.

Looked at your build page from page 1. You and your dad did an amazing job fixing up a old rusted up truck into a damn good looking monstaliner truck. Let me know which Cv boots your getting for your truck. I need to replace mine very soon. Boots crapped out on me the same way yours did.

Thanks! And I'm going to replace the whole cv axle. There pretty rusty and corroded. I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy son remanufactured ones with high angle boots from cvjaxle. Think the quote I got was around 150 a piece.

At least your buying OEM CV's, I'm still having trouble finding the right high angle boots I need for my truck
