reviving this old thread for the onslaught of new 2016 buyers w/o homelink looking to add a homelink mirror that is like the 2016 homelink on the limited.

can you help us with the right info so we can buy this from you?

Hey Bob, I know what I'm looking for, but not sure what it is. Had a home link mirror on the '12 Sport that had garage opener buttons along the bottom of the rearview mirror, compass and temp. I have a '15 Off Road now, and would like to get that mirror for this truck, without the temp feature. Is that possible? Thanks in advance.

Hi - yes, those are available. We have lots of them available - nice used mirrors with autodim, Homelink & compass are $145; new ones are $179 on up depending on which particular version you'd like.

Here are some options from the original thread:

New Gentex autodim compass Homelink mirror with light blue compass display (standard display window), plug & play wiring or hardwire harness, and wire cover. Regularly $259, now $179 on special.

New Gentex autodim compass Homelink mirror with white compass display (standard display window), white down-facing LED on the bottom of the mirror, white backlit buttons, plug & play wiring or hardwire harness, and wire cover. This is the only new Homelink mirror currently available with backlit buttons. This is the same mirror Toyota is using in several 2014-2015 models. Cost $269.

Used Gentex autodim compass Homelink mirror, plug & play wiring or hardwire harness, and wire cover. Display options - standard light blue, amber or green (these have the compass display window) or hidden light blue or red (this is where you can't see the compass until you turn the ignition on, and then the compass letters appear to float behind the glass). Cost $169. New price now $145.

Because yours is a 2015, though, you'll need to see if your truck has the factory mirror wiring in place...not all do. Look for a white 14 pin plug tucked away above the overhead console. If it's there, it'll have 2 wires (white with black stripe and green) or 3 wires (same plus red). If you find it, make note of the # of wires as we'll need to know that.

If you have any other questions or would like to buy a mirror, please email me directly at rearviewmirrors@csinet.net

    Thank you!

    Bob,

I have a question here. I purchased one of the Gentex autodim compass Homelink mirror with light blue compass display 10 months ago maybe and just replaced my garage door opener with a Lift Master 8500 and the Homelink does not seem to program to this opener?

Most new openers are using the latest version of Homelink, so in order to use your existing mirror, you'll either need to purchase a repeater (these are $25-35 on ebay or Amazon), or replace your mirror with a newer one that is Homelink 5. You can read up more about the repeaters and other homelink info on www.homelink.com

Just wanted to say thanks, Bob! You were very helpful, the mirror install was simple, everything was included, and it works great! Had to calibrate the compass and program the opener of course, but it was all a piece of cake.

Pic attached. Sorry it's so dark. Starting to run out of room up there...I'm going to have to relocate some things.

    Thanks again!

Hi Bob. Pretty sure this the thread I'm looking for. Just got a '16 Taco with an auto-dimming mirror with compass. I had a home link mirror on my Taco trade but no compass. Is it possible to plug in one one of your Gentek mirrors with home link and compass and have it work? Are plugs the same? I wanted swap the mirrors but dealer sales guy said it would not work. Ideas?

My mirror arrived packed well with instructions. Again super excited and happy with this purchase.

If you are thinking about getting one I would highly recommend getting it from Bob!

Got my mirror installed and all programmed and ready to go. I really like it. I was a bit concerned getting a used product (which I was fully aware of). The only way I could tell when I got it though was there was no packaging (other than the shipping box and bubble wrap)! The mirror and parts were all in excellent shape and I couldn't tell that it was used at all. Thank you, Bob!

    Hi Bob,

I have a 2015 TRD OR DCSB Tacoma. I'm looking for a rearview mirror with Temp, Compass, and Homelink with hidden display. Do you have these in stock and how much are they? Do you also have some pics of the mirrors? Will I need to install a temperature sensor or does my 15' come with it already?

    Thanks,
    Alvin

A while back I bought a used Gentex GNTX-453 autodim Homelink compass temp mirror from Bob for my 2014. Apparently new ones are hard to find - discontinued I guess.

The installation instructions that came with the mirror were great, and the temperature sensor was a new design that didn't require drilling to install under the hood.

So far very happy, would definitely recommend buying from Bob. Top rate service and great communications.

I have an older garage door opener, so no issues doing the programming.

Also bought a GNTX-453 with temperature sensor from Bob for my '15 to replace the stock mirror. Mounted the temperature sensor in front of the radiator in the vertical support using factory holes. Everything was very smooth and the mirror synced flawlessly with my older Genie Gen 2 garage door openers. One slight glitch. At first, one opener would not sync with any of the mirror buttons. It turned out that this particular opener can only sync with 4 remotes. When I cleared it by holding the "learn" button down for about 30 seconds, it then accepted the sync normally. Just had to re-sync my two other vehicles and the remote.

Very satisfied with the product and the great service and responsiveness from Bob.
