    Agreed. Much like buying a firearm. Like I said many times. Just because I have the means to buy one doesn't give me the "right" to buy one without some sort of checks in place.

    Yeah, I went to the Drone Expo in L.A. last week and they had major drone hardware for checking power lines, crops, FLIR, military, etc. Phenomenal! There's a massive world I never thought about.

    Funniest moments there? All the times the experts lost control of their copters and people ran for cover. Happened more than three times.

    Oh believe me I know. We have a couple of agents that work on the FD with me and they have been begging me to take footage for them. I wouldn't mind doing it but I'm #1 not insured in case something were to go wrong. #2 It's illegal for me to do it.

    Next year they are supposed to streamline the system which should make it a bit easier to put these in commercial use. But until then it is a hobby. I didn't buy it for monetary reasons I bought it for a hobby. But... That said, down the road I might look into LLC and a start up company. Who knows?

    I mean it takes stable footage. By the way this never leaves my property (not to say it can't take off and fall somewhere else but most likely it will be "my" house that gets damaged.

    the video was a news reporter so im taking that with a grain of salt.

    Just wondering what they have to do to actually legally make this happen. I am sure a report that they publish isnt enough.

I will say one thing about the batteries. They fully charge in less than an hour. That in itself is pretty impressive.

    This is the part I'm waiting to change. PPL + medical is a bit overkill, no? And flying a 172 has basically zero to do with flying a stabilized platform.

    The PPL is less about flying a manned aircraft and more about understanding the airspace you're flying in... I don't think it's overkill at all.
