So yesterday I got a flat tire in cold, wet, miserable weather on the side of the road. I had the back seat of my 09 DCLB TRD Sport V6 packed with shopping and groceries. So I unpacked everything on the passenger side to the bed of the truck so I could get to the jack and tools. After fighting with the winch to get the tire down for half hour, I knew there had to be a better way. I put the jack and tools in the bed of the truck just above the inverter outlet. Here are the pics to show how I did it. Now it's easier to get to everthing. Also added a pipe to plastic pipe to guide the winch handle to the winch.

That's why some trucks have that stuff in the engine compartment. Hope no one steals your stuff.

I have a tonneau cover that is secured from the inside. If they want in, they'll have to cut it.

I have had 2 flat tires in my life when driving on 2 different vehicles. In both cases the tires needed replacing. How often do you plan on having to deal with this that you need the tools right there. Every 5 years or so I'll move the groceries around and deal with it. A real concern is someone using it to break into your truck, never give them tools that will help them.

If they really wanted to get in its nit that hard at all and most likely would have something to break windows even if they didn't all you would need is to wrap your hand and punch it. I've done that before when some lady locked her key in the car at the beach with her sleeping baby in it just blasted the window and I was in.

I agree...moving stuff around in the back seat isn't a big deal to me. Fighting with removing the spare would be my biggest obstacle. I've been thinking about doing a 'spare tire removal rehearsal' recently so I have an idea what I'm in for instead of fumbling around on the side of the road. Will do it next weekend after installing my new Fumoto valve...

Stop and go plug kit...under the seat. The last few years, overall it has been valve stems that have given me trouble. One tire problem in the taco in five years, found nail, drove to shop for repair.

Did you make those brackets yourself for the rear lights?

I unfortunately seem to average about 1 flat a year between my vehicles, getting to the jack and tools is not that big a deal to me. I actually hate that many new vehicles don't even come with spare tires any longer, just some silly pump that wont do shit if you have a damaged sidewall.
