Saw it Thursday night and Friday night, both times IMAX 3D. After the first time, I thought it was the best movie I have ever seen.

After calming down a bit, I think it is a great movie, and the second best in the saga.

Here is how I rate all of the Star Wars films, in order of greatness:

V VII IV VI III II I

I gotta admit: it was pretty predictable.

One of the biggest draws of this is the nostalgia. The movie gets an A+ with that. I was slightly disappointed with the plot structure thinking back. There were way too many parallels to ANH.

I did get the biggest kick out of the Falcon scenes with the tie fighter dogfight.

Disney cleared the cost of the movie in the first 48 hours. The mouse is fed & just burped.

Nostalgia factor was key. Today on the news they said that 90% of the people that have seen TFA are men, with a concentration in the 30-40 age range. Exit polls say men give the film an A, women give it an A+.

Ironically, Star Wars may END war lol if they keep cranking out great movies like this every Christmas!

I made two bold predictions this fall.
That this movie would be the biggest ever, smashing Avatar, and Donald Trump will be president.

I'm interested to see if it'll break the record in the broader category of entertainment, which I believe is still held by Grand Theft Auto 5.

Edit: Actually that's impossible, since opening day is over. Also, I was correct. GTA 5 made $815m on release day.

When I saw the super mega ultra Death Star 3 I did think "they can't be serious" lol.

I didn't like how it had the same weakness where some X-wings could just go in there and wreck it. Ah well it was still enjoyable

Finally saw Star Wars. Pretty cool.

I'm just pissed they switched the USS Enterprise out with that millennium falcon thing and then CPT Kirk made that random cameo in the end. Overall pretty good though.

OMG, when he first took off his mask, I was shocked it wasn't Javier Bardem! Haha
I was relieved it wasn't at the same time...who it was turned out to kinda be a puss though. That was a touch on the disappointing side. I guess that's what happens when Disney gets involved.

My complaints, similar to what most have said already.

-Story line is very similar to the first.

-Movie moved way too fast. For example, when Rey is in that bar and Finn says he's leaving and not helping them anymore, she's still looking at him like "wtf where's he going?" and in the same milli-second she starts hearing the child crying which leads her to the saber. She doesn't even get a chance to show her emotions about Finn leaving. It would have been nice to at least give the audience a moment to connect with Rey and see how she felt about him leaving, but it's like nope onto the next thing.

-Also when they were in the bar and that old lady crawls across the table looking into Finns eyes, they made it seem overly intense like she knew something more than the audience does. Not just about the fact he's lying about him being a previous Storm Trooper. I thought she was going to reveal what finally made him change his mind about being a storm trooper.

And if he was captured as a child and raised and trained to be a storm trooper, doesn't he have some sort of allegiance? That's all he knew. Why did he just wake up one day and decide to leave? And he mentions that was his first battle, why is he so old and that's his first one? And he also says he worked in sanitation, so WHY is he out on the battlefield?! And why does he so desperately want to leave Rey and not help anymore and then 5 seconds later, just kidding I want to be a hero.

-Another key point that I think they kind of missed an opportunity with is when Kylo Ren kills Han Solo, yes Chewy gets mad, but you'd think they'd capitalize a bit more on it. He kind of yells, shoots a storm trooper, blows up stuff, then magically is back flying the Falcon. You'd think they'd allow some more time for some character connection. Chewy as far as I know has spent the majority of his life with Solo. So that should be an epic moment. I honestly thought they'd show a side of Chewy that nobody had ever seen. I was expecting him to go over and rip a storm trooper in half or something.

-Why did everytime they show that Death Star 2.0 from a distance it looks like a solid ball of metal but then when they are on it, it has trees and mountains?

Also I might be totally lost but Kylo Ren asks Rey at one point if she see's Han Solo as a father figure. She just met the dude, so maybe Kylo Ren suspects Rey is his sister but if shes Lukes daughter they'd be cousins? I dunno.

I haven't really followed Star Wars much, too young mostly lol, but when they showed Rey as a child getting left behind. Who exactly was leaving her? I would assume that everyone thinks it's her parents, but does that story line make sense for any of the other characters? Such as Luke for example?

I'm sure Ill think of more later.

Saw it Sunday afternoon. It was fantastic nostalgic fun and very entertaining. The new characters were developed just enough for me to want to pay my money to see where they take them next.

Love that Daniel Craig did the cameo ... very cool.

Saw it in 3D, cause that is what was available for when everyone wanted to go; I think this is maybe the 3rd movie I've watched in 3D and I don't really care for it. For slower scenes the depth is nice, but for action scenes I kind of loose track of what's going on visually. I was surprised when my son brought up that he felt the same way about the 3D effect.

Sad to see Han Solo die, but not totally unexpected. Kylo Ren is established as the bad guy we will all hate by that act.

We (son and I) were debating about Rey being Ren's sister, but ya'll have clarified that here, and her being his cousin and Luke's daughter fits and makes more sense.

    I liked it.
