Tailgate reinforcement

Hi guys,

In my wait for my truck I've been reading up on 3rd Gens and reading up on mods that might carryover from 2nd, I saw someone mentioning reinforcement for the tail gate. Has anyone done this on the 3rd Gen? I plan on hauling motorcycles in my truck bed and the rear wheels will definitely be on the tail gate.

That tailgate assembly is pretty strong, I see no need to reinforce... the payload numbers are not that big for the bed, so if you are planning a lot of weight, you bought the wrong truck.

 

I'm interested to strip to caps off of the tailgate of the '16 and see what it's like inside compared to the 2nd gens. The new tailgate has a lot more depth to it(the curved 'spoiler' effect they did to it) so it very well may be a bit stronger
