I recently purchased rock sliders from All-Pro, and i was wondering how the heck to drill out the upper bolts, the ones highest on the frame, closest to the cab? The drill didn't work, and even the angle drill didn't work, i ended up putting the in not perfectly square to my frame because I ran out of options. Any clue of the correct way to drill the holes straight? the problem was that there wasn't enough room from the cab to the frame to drill them out.
    Thanks!

Can you put up a picture of the area in question?

Why do you drill out the bolt instead of just removing it (I've never installed sliders, not sure what bolt you are talking about)

I didn't remove the rock sliders, the bottom bolts are all on and the top ones are in crooked because the drill couldn't be put square to the frame because of no room

Ok. That's not what I asked and not what you asked about. What are the 'upper bolts' you are trying to drill out? And why would you drill out a bolt vs just removing it?

oh, okay i see what you are saying, there is no bolt to remove, the rock sliders have 4 mounts and each mount has 4 bolts two lower bolts and two upper bolts, you have to drill through one side of the frame and the bolts are kinda like a self threading bolt, it has no nut on the end of the bolt. does that make more sense?

Like there isn't enough room for even an angle drill to drill the top holes to put the upper bolts in, anyone have an idea how to drill the holes out straight?

They have 4 pre drilled holes in each mount of the sliders. And it came with the bolts to install it.

    Word.

Notice the difference in the bolt on brackets on the pic posted by Devan, compared to your sliders?

The picture he posted was of a newer Tacoma 05-15 mine is a 2001, they changed their mounts. Mine are for sure bolt on. And I could drill through the back side, but my exhaust is in the way, and I only have to go through one side of my frame, not both

Center punch where you need to drill. Start with smaller bit that will fit with an angle drill and move up in size. Get the final size bit needed and cut it to length that will fit to drill outside. Use a new bit to drill through to other side. Should fit even if you have to place it in fresh drilled hole first then chuck it up in the drill after it is in the hole. Use cutting oil to help drill even if it's WD40. Anything will help. Heat will kill a bit fast.

Is it just me or is the whole frame saddle portion of the slider missing in the picture of the truck when compared to the website pic

EDIT : nevermind , should have read further

Just get it in proper position and go to a muffler shop and have it welded on.

Buy the guy lunch, give him a $20 and call it a day.

I mean it's not like you're going to be pulling them off and on anyway.

You need a small, right angle drill, and short bits. As mentioned above, you'll probably have to make the bits, use a cut off wheel and re-sharpen them. That said, given the hardware in question, that bolt being at an angle won't make much difference, and re-drilling those whole will weaken the whole thing substantially.

Alternatively, just weld the sliders on. I don't see the size hardware you have there being strong enough to really take a beating, especially using some kind of self tapping bolt into the soft steel of the frame. For reference my bolt on sliders have 10 count, grade 8, 1/2" diameter bolts per side.

I could weld them on, since I am a fabricator, but I didn't want to incase I sold the truck and the next owner didn't want them on. I just put the bolts in that all pro off-road sent me, I can lift both tires off the ground with just the bolts and not welded, they are very strong, I have 16 bolts per rock slider

Only one way to test them, hit the trail :)

That's why I have bolt on too, although it wouldn't be hard to grind off the welds...
