I currently have a 2007 Honda Ridgeline and want a new truck.
was hoping to see what the 2016 Ridgelines look like but they are not coming out until next year.

So I'm going with the 2016 Tacoma Off Road 4x4.
My plan is to keep it for two years and then decide on a Ridgeline or another Tacoma in 2018.

Changes I would like to see on the 2016 Tacoma:
#1. The truck bed trunk is nice to have (have one on the Ridgeline) great to put gear in. Is this some patent that only Honda can have?
    2. Would be nice to be able to place a sheet of plywood (4'x8') in the bed with out the wheel wells getting in the way. (this is not an issue with the Ridgeline)
    3. Multiple tie down cleats (front , back and side of truck bed (again found on Ridgeline)
    4. would like to see leather seats and electric positioning as an option on the off road.
    5. on the crew cab would like to have rear AC and charger port for cell phones in the back. (again this is in my 2007 Ridgeline)

The one thing I hated about the Ridgeline was the non-truck look of it

I am going to get a Tacoma so I'll give it a try. What are the chances of any of the 5 request getting put into a future Tacoma Model?

Finally, If I'm ordering the new Tacoma in a month or two, will some of the minor issues (noise, hood vibration, ect) that have been reported get corrected as they continue to make the trucks or will they only get corrected in next years model?

I like the feel and looks of the Taoma

I too am anxious to see the new Ridgeline. I think it could be a good fit for the wife's CRV, Honda IMO has great reliability as well. We were talking RAV 4 until Toyota dismissed a howl a few of us were having as a "characteristic" of the truck. Yeah I will be looking at the new Ridgeline.

    Right.

I dunno why you want a Tacoma when your list is everything it doesn't have.

You'll have a long two years of ownership.

OP, sounds like you just need to wait on a ridgeline. Honda is way ahead of the tacomas in the tech department, but you sacrifice having an open-roofed SUV with the ridge. I, personally, don't see the point in buying the 16 just to lose a bit of money in resale 2 years down the line. When I decided to buy, I was in it for the long haul. If thats the case, buy a used 2nd Gen for cheaper and enjoy all the mods available to you. Also with the 2nd gen later years, Toyota had a decade to work out some of those bugs so its a more complete truck. Who knows, maybe you'll discover a ridgeline mod down the line that makes the truck look less like an el camino.

I had an 09 Ridgeline and put 155k on it. Great truck. Got the 16 Tacoma sport 4x4 dblcb. Ridgeline is much more comfortable ride and lot more room for storage as u stated. I went to tundra first for year now this and besides the seats being not as comfortable and adjustable Ireally like this truck. Would not go gen2 in my opinion it is big difference. The new Ridgeline will be out in few months. Im guessing a 17 model in may or June. Not sure how it will be yet but I'm happy with Tacoma and hope to find way to get seat better. I can say the Ridgeline is a much better handling truck and lots smoother riding but as u know its unibody and same as suv made with bed. Love the Ridgeline and hope they hit home run and if so ill look at them then compared to my 16. Tacoma.

Odd thing about the Tacoma is the hood prop. I saw a 1953 Chevy truck it had clock springs on the hood hinges so it lifted the hood and kept it in place. A 1953 Chevy truck, but the Tacoma you still have to boost the hood up and prop it in place. That would be about a $5 improvement.

They'd probably break, and then have a TSB issued acknowledging the spring issues but having no solution.

Then a year later the dealership calls you and the part is in to fix this problem. You drop your truck off in the morning and four hours later, it's done.

You get in. Hit a car wash on the way home because you're back in business, you feel good, and now you want to look good. You know you have some 303 in the garage at home, so you arrive, ready to put the finishing touch on the engine bay.

You open the hood - and wow, the springs are gone. New hinges. Shiny. Nice.

But how does the hood stay up?

    WITH THE PROP ROD TSB.
