    Hello tocoma world

I have a 2009 tocoma double cab 4wd . Am looking to get a shell for the bed. My soft tonnue cover does not work for family anymore. Not totally waterproof and can not fit all baby gear. It is also no lockable. I have been looking all over craigslist , but with no luck! I need it to be silver to match the truck. Any tocoma owners out there have any leads on to where to get a shell of decent quality without breaking the bank? Want to keep it under $1000.

    Matt

    In south jersey.

buy a used one if you can find one, paint it if it does not match. that is the cheapest , a good paint shop could to it for not to much . a new fiberglass one is going to be over $1000. also look at a aluminium one. just my thoughts, good luck.

Thank you. Great idea. Been thought to find 2nd gen double cab cap. Plenty of first but not sure if it would fit. I know the body style did not change.

As someone else on here suggested in another thread, try using searchtempest.com to expand your search area. That site will search all of the CL sites up to whatever distance you specify. I searched for a couple of months but in the end had to get a new one. Hopefully you'll have better luck. Your budget of 1K is very realistic for what you are looking to get.

I found a A.R.E shell silver for a 2012 double cab! Will it fit my 2009 double cab? The right up says its fits a 5'5 bed size.

Could you talk further on needing s new seal? I bought my Leer XL used and sometimes take it on and off as needed. I understand the seals could tear/dry rot, but are they that fragile?

Keep checking CL. You may have to wait but there are great deals out there, if you aren't too picky.
    Good luck with the hunt.

i don't know how fussy you are about water getting in. but if you take it on/off alot might not be an issue. if seal is in good shape, no worrys. my topper never comes off, and i hate when water gets in.

@Yoda2009 set up an IFTTT alert on your local CL (or at least as far as you are willing to drive). You'll find one, I paid $700 for mine.

I looked on CL everyday for almost 4 months and found a great deal within an hour drive. I am glad I waited and did not buy new. 3 months from now, if I decide I don't like it, I can sell it for what I paid or at least get within $100.
