Heh, very true, but sadly manual transmission wasn't being offered for what I wanted. Believe me, I'm one of the "Save the Manuals" supporters and have a zippy manual in the garage. If I had my way I wouldn't be driving an automatic, but it's not terrible.

Nice. Its the same transmission as the V6 models but seems to function better behind the I-4. Further evidence that its a trans that was designed for a 4 cylinder, not a high revving, "high" HP V6.

And blue T has a point, a local dealer has an AC 2.7L auto 4x2 sitting out on the lot since late August. What a hot seller.......I'd buy that combo.

The person who purchased the vehicle. Pretty simple BlueT.
This is like asking why you buy the particle vehicles you do? It is because that is what you wanted at the time.

I am not a fan of this trans. It upshifts when it should hold the gear its in. I have noticed minor hard downshifting on hills. I drive a lot of backroads and use the tow/haul button or shift it manually, kinda sucks.

Multi-geared autos....lets say with more than 5 speeds although more efficient, lose the deliverability when compared to the 2 & 3 speeds from years back. ECMs often fall short when they signal the trans to shift from 6 gear to low. That's a lot if activity taking place in the tranny often accompanied by clunks and pauses while the ECM decides what gear it wants. Just like a down shift for passing, the converter will unlock followed by as many as two engagements until the proper gear is found. It is amazing how they work as smoothly as they do. Just saying.

Not quite true. The Ram 1500 with the Hemi/Zf8 combo and 3.55 or 3.92 works great., especially with the 3.92 gear ratio.

So boredom is subtended by the parametric fan to supply the magneto reluctance?

Mine did some funky stuff when the truck had less than 600 miles on it. I think mine is a little low on fluid. Those who say the transmission is the issue - it's probably not. I would bet it's the programming, which is evident if you put the truck into ECT mode. That changes the characteristics of the transmission significantly. I don't notice any difference in Sport mode, other than it's limited to 4th gear from an upshift standpoint.

The problem is these transmissions are programed for fuel economy first and drivability second.

In ECT mode, the modial interactions must be one octave out of sync with the phase detractors...

How is your truck limited to just 4th gear? All you need to do it push the lever forward to get to the 5th and 6th gears.

Yes, I know that. I'm saying there doesn't seem to be anything "sport" about it, other than limiting it to 4th gear when you move the shifter into the "S" position. It should have been called "T" for Tow and not "S" for Sport.

Is it actually referred to as "sport" in the manual? Isn't it the same basic "shift" available in other Toyotas? I only use this feature when driving in mountains to help with engine breaking as needed.

my automatic, on the 2011, with 58K miles, is like surging right at 40 MPH, like it can't decide which gear to be in,.? Or converter right on verge of locking in,/releasing? It's annoying driving at that speed,Then when you let off the accelerator, it slows faster than normal, like you manually downshifted, or applied some brakes, also feels like not much coasting capability, Really frustrating for purchasing a so called certified truck, Already had to have both rear wheel bearings replaced, so much for the dealers certifying process!!
