Man trans, 33s - 4.10 or stock gears?

    I'm doing lockers next year and just can't decide what gear ratio to go with.

    If I stay with stock I won't have to do front and rear at the same time, but will probably regret it if I ever go to larger tires. I already feel under torqued in certain situations.

    If I go 4.10 I will be shelling out a bunch of cash at one time, but will gain low end torque. I'm concerned about losing fuel economy too. I get 18mpg in the summer on my current setup. Some say I'll gain, some say I'll lose, fuel economy. This is my daily driver, and will be for years so I'm not sure I'll go to larger tires on this truck.

    What are your thoughts TW?

    MT here too and I almost went with 255/85-16s when I bought the last set of tires (will probably do it next time) so thought quite a bit about gearing. So, no real world experience here, just ideas and I decided that I will probably keep the stock gears. The Taco is my daily driver and my commute is half freeway at 78 mph and half relatively light surface street traffic at 30 to 40 mph. Weekends generally have some offroad time but its not always slow crawling. I was willing to trade a lower (better) RPM on the freeway for slightly more sluggish "in town" performance and more difficulty keeping the offroad crawl speed down. With the way our ECUs control detonation and stall that is an option that wasn't really an option with my older trucks.

    Bilstein 5100 front, FOX 2.0 remote resi rear, 2in add a leaf, OME 885 coils, magnaflow exhaust, LCE header, Toyo ATII 285/75/r16, fck lightbars, retrofit headlights and more.
    So I'm running 33" with the 4.10's. I want to do 4.88 gears. The 4.10's are good. For a daily they will be fine. I also have a Detroit 100% locker in the rear. If you want to do bigger than 33's in the future just do 4.88 gears. But if staying at 33" do 4.10. You will love it. And fuel economy would be the same or even better. Just my .02
