I got a gift card for Christmas for a Muffler shop out near me and want to get an exhaust system but what should I get? I'd like more of a deeper tone than a high pitched ricer tone and help is appreciated!

Full cutback magnaflow with 2.5 piping has a good deep tone. If you look on YouTube they have videos that gives you a good idea of the tone of any type of exhaust (magnaflow, flowmaster, borla, etc.)

URD markIII, it's a magnaflow with 3" pipe. then cut it off after the axle to reduce the drone drastically

I had a muffler shop installed a cherry bomb vortex on my 4 cylinder. Didn't like the drone noise, so I went back and had the tail pipe rerouted straight out the back along with a resonator. Still didn't like it, went to Walmart stuck a chrome tip on the tail pipe which helped some. Later I got headers which improve performance, but made the exhaust noise unbearable. So I had a OEM walker quiet muffler exhaust with tailpipe prefab system installed. I suggest for you to think about what you're going to do. Hopefully someone local like a Tacoma club member has already done it, so you can hear it before you purchase it. The muffler shop do they have someone they recently installed an exhaust system on a Tacoma they can refer you to? Here is a very good video on car exhaust systems. Wish I saw it before I played around with mine, could have saved me $400. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWTARjxiqlo

I've had a magnaflow muffler for almost five years now and I like it a lot. Nice rumble at idle, very quiet while driving but gets nice and loud at wide open throttle. You can have your muffler shop cut out your old muffler and weld in whatever muffler of your choosing for pretty cheap. I had the shop go a step further and cut the piping after the rear axle. Mine exits at a 45 degree angle down after the rear axle so it can't be seen and doesn't get hung up on curbs at the mall.

the drone comes mainly from the last bit of pipe you had cut off. I had 3" catback and the drone was terrible. I cut off the pipe from about the same location as you and the drone is now mostly gone. I did it cause it dragged and push up into the bed when off roading, so the reduced drone was a pleasant surprise.

When I see "Cherry Bomb", all I think of are those shitty glasspacks that sound terrible on anything
