Plugs look in very good shape. Some rounding of the electrode, but that's to be expected. Nice color - very clean.

BTW, apparently it's common to have the NGK / Denso combination from the factory.

Obsess much? Should have attached a mini dry erase board instead of permanent marker at 30,000.

Nice thread OP!I purchased the same Toyota Care $299 at 25,000 miles for the benefit as well. When i had the service done at 30k miles i requested to have the old spark plugs returned to me.The plugs were also NGK(driver),Denso(passenger).Common from the factory from what i researched before and what i was told at the dealer. My plugs also looked in good shape and clean like yours.Nice set up for the plugs, pics etc.!Interesting how some Toyota dealers will not honor the spark plug change for the Toyota Care at the $299 price. It's a additional charge.Once again nice thread OP!

I have only had my truck for about 6 months and am still under the 2 yr 25K mile Toyota Care. You are saying that when this ends I will be offered additional Toyota Care coverage for around $300? What does it cover?

Looking at the pictured spark plugs I can see no logical reason they needed to be changed at 30,000 miles. Look good for another 30,000 to me.

In another thread I questioned why Toyota uses 2 different brands of plugs from the factory and never got a good answer. Why Denso on the driver side bank and NGK on the passenger side bank? I get it that they are both good brands but why not have all six the same brand. Can anyone give a logical answer why each bank of cylinders uses a different brand? My understanding is that when you buy replacements at the dealer parts counter you get 6 of the same brand.

You get 5 free tire rotations and oil changes during the first 25k. At 30k they will offer you a sevice deal to change air filter, oil, diff fluids, transfer case, spark plugs (maybe), etc. They charge about $300 for all this. If you don't mind doing it yourself, you can do it for a lot less in your own garage - and you'll get to know your truck a little better.

I thought I read somewhere that Toyota had a contract with both NGK and Denso so to get around whatever agreement they had with both companies they use 3 of each. Get 6 NGK and you're good to go.

I just changed mine at 179K, bought the truck with 150K about a year ago. I believe they were the originals, Denso & NGK, the gaps were all in the .075-.085 range. No running issues except it seemed to crank a little longer than normal when it got really cold. Truck seems to start quicker now. That was the last thing on my list of "maintenance" to get caught up on.

I like doing my own maintenance and always have. It feels weird to have Toyota doing it but hey, it's free and gets documented on Carfax.

Just looked at my owner's manual yesterday. What a rip Toyota is. Spark plug change every 30k? Wow they must make the worlds shittiest parts. The spark plugs in my Ford are over 100k old.

Did my own 30k maintenance over the weekend. My plugs came out looking good as well

Also noticed a wire bank with no cover, is the normal or should there be a cover over it?

I don't ever recall seeing wires exposed like that in mine. Will be checking it later.

$300 sounds like a good price for the 30K service - I was quoted $300 for plugs ONLY.

Spark plug changes are suggested/recommended by Toyota for the V6 every 30k for emissions purposes, not spark plug wear and tear. Dealer changed mine at 30k for $250. I changed them myself at 60k for less than $30, and less than an hour and a half under the hood. It was a good way to get more familiar with my truck, too.
