95 Taco 4 cylinder. Never had one do this. Did front brakes awhile back and feel a weird grind at times when come off center of steering. Wheel bearing was my first thought but can detect no play on either wheel.

sometimes its the lower ball joints, put pry bare between lower "a" arm and spindle and see if it has play (lifts) when you apply pressure, because its under pressure from the front struts, you often you cant tell they are bad without doing this test until they literally fall out on you.

also do similar tests on the "a" arm bushings to see if they are shot. often these cause the stopping and starting pulls you speak of

Thanks for the answer. Will give that a try tomorrow and put it up on a jack to see what all is loose on the gal. Is around 130,000 on it. My 98 already did the separate the lower joint trick on me. I don't care for that but at least was going slow when it did that and on mud.

Seems is play in the rack and pinion. When apply pressure for and back the wheel moves on both sides. I see bushings for sale is this a possible cure or is the rack and pinion shot? Looks to have movement under the bellows before the main body.

there is an inner tie rod that screws into the rack that is covered by the boot. pull the clamps on the boot off and slide it towards the wheel to expose the inner tie rod ball joint. you might just need an inner tie rod.

this is how to change it:

OK thanks for the video. Makes more sense to me now. Hopefully it is the tie rods and not the rack and pinion.
