Did anyone ever find a ring that lights up in white or blue? The one you have lights up in amber right?

Like I said I'd love to but just don't have the time to do it myself. But I will get an itemized list and cost estimate and better instructions up. It's honestly a very easy mod to do.

I did not, and I even checked part numbers across the board for 5th gen 4runners and couldn't find any differences between models. Though I could have sworn trail team models had white LEDs, since their dashes are white, but I bought what was listed for a 4Runner trail and it's still Amber. So unfortunately I haven't sourced one in white. The 4th gens have white LEDs but are not the same design as those for the Tacoma. Now if you have someone real good at soldering in tight places I don't see why it can't be changed out. The problem is the overall Amplifier part looks extremely difficult to break down into components due to the way it is made. Only thing I could take off was the clear ring and a small panel covering the circuit board whereas the LED sits on the backside covered by plastic.

Okay sounds like you already did your homework on that one. Unfortunately Toyota does make it so you need to do a lot of deciphering and cross checking if you are trying to add something that is not originally equipped in your vehicle.

Sure can! I'm away from home at the moment but as soon as I get back on Sunday I can pack some up and send you a few.

Yeah they don't make it easy. Same sort of thing goes for me wanting to change out my steering controls to the 4Runner version that are black (instead of the stock 12+ TRD silver ones). I actually hope those are orange to match the ignition ring, then the last thing I need to convert to amber would be the ATRAC switch and the driver door "Auto" window button. I get annoyed when my truck interior looks like a rainbow LED Christmas tree lol.

I actually just bit the bullet on a number of interior blackout parts... wheel trim, stereo trim, 4x4 switch & gear shift / cup holder trim. The wheel trim will be green light though which is what I was after to match the rest of my lighting.

Same as you trying to dump some of the silver out of the truck.... hopefully my research was right though lol. Only some of that had been confirmed by other members on here.

Yeah I'm going to try and snag a 4Runner part instead since I'm going the Amber route at this point. The black steering controls look awesome with blacked out gauge rings too, which I will do at some point, I just really hate pulling the dash unless I really have to or have multiple projects that I can tackle at once.

I'm still sitting on a LED lit 4Runner 4x4 knob I need to install.

I just ordered one of these but from a tundra rather than 4runner. Based on a bunch of cross referencing it should be a perfect fit

I suppose I could have signed up on the tundra forum and asked what colour it illuminates in... But that would ruin the surprise lol. I'll let you guys know on the colour and fit once it's in.

Let me know how it works out. I noticed the Tundra ring actually lines up the text with the little dots on ignition whereas the 4Runner ring does not. Would love to see if the Tundra version is the better option especially if the LED is white.

Will do! Amber was my last choice so I figured I may as well roll the dice on a different part. Worse case scenario if it's a colour I don't like then I'll solder a new LED in. Will let you know once it arrives though.

You don't happen to know the part number for the connector that clicks into the transponder amplifier? Online is referencing as an e5 connector but haven't come across the actual part number yet

Yes I have the part number so long as the part is the same for the Tundra as it is for the 4Runner/Tacoma:

I'm pretty sure that it is. From what I can tell here is the terminal situation if you wanted to go with Toyota terminals:

    Pins 1 & 7 use 82998-12740
    Pins 2-6 use 82998-24290

I'll check it out when the part arrives.

I haven't used alibaba before personally, but from what I've read online both alibaba and aliexpress are hit and miss whether it's a scam or legitimate. I like to stick with vendors that accept paypal just so there is that layer of protection if needed.
