Why not get a Jeep?

I was with a department that had RAMs, Chevys, and Fords. The Sheriff's Ford had 230k miles on it. The Undersheriff's Chevy had 130k miles on it from what I remember, and the newest RAM was put on a flatbed and sent to the dealer for driveline repair at 15k. Which could be a fluke. To be fair, one of the Chevys did blow the drive line but that happened while trying to free a big rig from being hard parked in mud, which is an entirely different story.

 

I had both, 4cylinder wrangler and 4cyl Toyota Tacoma.

I prefer the Tacoma over the jeep any day. For those of you who think that the 4cylinder Tacoma is gutless, drive a four 4cylinder Jeep Wrangler.

My Toyota is an all around better vehicle. Plus it has a bed that i use almost weekly.

The only thing I liked about the jeep was that it was rugged and tough off road.

 

Oh jeeze... People want to talk about rattles and squeaking, take a RZR for a ride. obviously they aren't on-road passenger vehicles but when you're into one for $15-20k you expect it to behave well enough not to sound like a spray paint can when you are cruising.

I'm new here, but I'll chime in...

I have a Jeep that I've built to take anything that i can throw at it without breaking. It has armor, skids, lockers, D44 front, D60 rear, tuned suspension, etc. It goes everywhere I point it. I wouldn't even think about taking anything with IFS or a full body where it goes. I love my new Tacoma, but it will never see what the Jeep sees.

Two completely different vehicles. The Jeep is hands down the best off road vehicle. The Tacoma is a good blend of off road capability, a truck, decent road manners and a bit more refined. Both have excellent resale values.

That's a RTI trailer that allows one to measure a vehicles flex and that Jeep has some serious flex!

 

It actually doesn't have one. lol

I still have some shock length issues to work out. Eventually it will have 11.5" Bilsteins all the way around.

My 2013 only had about 300 miles on it when I traded it for a TJ and a bunch of cash. Control arm bushings, sway bar bushings (even though I had the front disconnects) and rod ends on the Walker Evans shocks all squeaked by time of the break in period. Even when cleaned and lubed per the SM. I was disappointed...

 

If you want to Off Road get a Jeep, but daily driver my Taco is much better.

I'd say there are plenty of Tacoma's that do just fine offroad L/T'd with 35's that could handle that picture just fine. You heepies are showing
