2000 Prerunner 3.4 with OME all around including Dakars. Prior owner added a draw tight hitch bolted / drilled into frame. Original installed bumper has slot for hitch ball, but I assume that is for the low-side of the 2000 model year pulling range. I don't use the bumper to tow - but was interested in what the undermount draw-tight adds to the equation.

Here's the question. If I were to replace the stock bumper with a CBI offroad style rear (with integrated hitch receiver) am I sliding back to the weight limit on the original bumper (I believe the Trail Rider uses the standard Toyota bumper mount-points.)

Am I better off with the already installed aftermarket under-hitch (which I will use for up to the 5000lb rating for the Prerunner or can I afford to go with the much cooler plate bumper with integrated receiver.

I think I know the answer - just looking for smarter folks' opinions...

stick with the hitch that you have. with proper trailer braking components installed, you can tow good sized boats trailers with it. probably more than our engine/transmissions can even handle.
