I didn't add it to the last paragraph because I was already long-winded enough but I was involved with K&N back in 05 when the first scoop came out with the second-generation to make that hood scoop functional and the final verdict from K&N then was that they couldn't get around the all weather situation like snow so they opted out of advancing on in the engineering of a functional system for it,

 

I don't mean it needs to be for the intake and I understand the weather aspect of it. On the Celica it transferred air to the exhaust manifold to help with cooling. Better than nothing. I know that's not possible on the v6 tacomas but they could make it somewhat functional for additional cooling in the engine compartment. Even a small opening towards the top would be better than nothing and I wouldn't see too much water getting in

 

I too like the sport hood would trade for one for my TRD off-road in Blazing Blue Pearl. In Wisconsin

 

There is a thread specifically for trading hoods (scoop/non-scoop). You might want to search for that one and put your info in there.

 

And there you have it, noobs. The real function of your darling hood scoops. I'll be starting a 3rd gen group buy for them on Jan 1.
