I use to be able to idle along in first gear now it wants to choke off when I let off the clutch if I do not give it a good bit of gas. What could this be? Throttle body need cleaning?

Reviving this thread because I have the same problem. My truck used to idle at 800rpm, I disconnected the batter to remove my seats and work on the interior, I disconnected it Saturday morning and connected again Sunday morning, now the truck idles at 500rpm, at those rpm the engine is shaking. Any idea why this happened?

When was the last time you've cleaned the throttle body or MAF sensor?

My idle just changed on its own, I don't recall what the idle rpm was but I can tell by the feel and sound. I guess I'll be cleaning throttle body and maf. Truck run flawless till now, 43K on truck.

There has been a special service campaign for the catalytic converter clogging on certain 4 cylinder tacomas. If its being "choked" maybe this could be the problem.
