Morning all, I am planning to install a pioneer 720 in my truck this weekend. Would like for the steering wheel controls to work properly in my truck so I purchased a SWI-RC to help. Looking at the instructions I am confused, I've looked through several other threads, still just as confused. I have attached the instructions, the part I'm not understanding is how the interface wire connects to the pin, am I just tapping into the wire that is on the vehicles harness that connects to pin 7? Any help would be appreciated!

Pretty easy once you figure it out. All you're going to do is find the wires you need and cut them. Make sure you leave plenty of room on the harness side. Then just splice the wires of the swi into the cut wires. I did it a few weeks ago and I can't remember the wire colors, but they may be different on your truck. Take a look at the picture below. The wiring harnesses at the top left is where you need to focus. There's a 24 pin connector (white) behind the little grey connector, which is the usb connector. That white connector has the wires for the steering wheel functions in it. It should make more sense once you get everything apart.

Thanks! Hopefully it'll all seem relevant once I get it taken apart. Those instructions from PAC are not the easiest to follow.

Yeah thats the instructions I have, just trying to understand if I need to cut the wire going to pin 7 and just connect to the white wire of the interface?

I had to wire in the white wire, the white/red, and then the black wire and red wire went to the stereo connections. Plus there's either a 3.5mm jack you have to plug in or a blue/yellow that you have to connect to the stereo.

Just tap into the wires? What happens with the rest of the 20 pin or 24 pin in your case? Does it connect to anything?

Not a thing. Seems like the back up cam signal wires into one of those wires too if I remember correctly.

The backup camera on mine is in the rear view mirror, don't think I'll have to worry about that wire. Hopefully I'll get it figured out when I take everything apart, I appreciate the help!
