Oh I know. The internet fosters way more negativity than it ever does positivity. A few people with issues, real or perceived, can make it seem like everyone is having problems.

    Hence my sig. ;)

Thats why I only have 50 posts in almost 7 yrs of being a member.... too much time enjoying my truck, not worrying about other people's trucks.

-Had a 96 first gen, 80,000 miles -> zero issues
-Currently have a 2005 DCLB Sport i'm trying to sell...121,000 miles, had 1 set of leafs that needed replaced at 90,000. that's it.

So, I have no hesitation buying the 1st year 3rd gen, I've done it twice before with hardly any problems at all. Can't beat the reliability of these trucks. Waiting on my MGM Limited to come into my dealer in a few weeks. Can't wait.

You're right, just tried it. It's all floppy and loose (That's what she said). I'm gonna have this checked out. Thanks.

got 2350 miles in little over 3 weeks and no issues at all so far. As stated all have issues at some point new or older models. Humans put them together and make the parts. Plus bad material sometimes in batches. Happens. I have owned many new vehicles all brands over last 30 years and can say Toyota has had the least issues of any brand with exception I had the one Honda ridgeline that I kept 5 yrs 155k and it had none whole time. Only Honda I have had but read others had issues I just didn't.

Over 2,500 miles and the only issues thus far have been a loose wiper fluid nozzle (snapped right back into place) and my touchscreen restarting a few times (hasn't happened again in over 1,000 miles). Overall I'm very happy with the truck. I'll be taking it for a 1,600 mile drive come Friday afternoon and hoping for no problems along the way.

I used to drive a 2005 ford f250 with the infamous 6.0 powerstroke, miss it sometimes. Never had a single problem, scheduled oil and fuel for 70,000 miles from me

The engine that was disassembled was 10,000 miles old. It lost 2.5 quarts of oil during each of the 5000 mile intervals before it was torn down.

That's not a driving off the lot issue.

    None needed.
Gentleman, I quote 'BlueT balls' as a prime example of what we 3rd gen owners are now experiencing. No matter how you want to pose your argument, one simple FACT remains. When the third gen hit the streets all 2nd gen Tacoma's become lost in automotive history. Yes, in one moment they became old and yesterday. I'm NOT saying there not great trucks, they are! I'm saying there not cool anymore. And because of that, some lash out like a catty girl, mad because her friend has a date and she doesn't.

I've hit 5k on my 3rd Gen Taco and my only complaint is the dam transmission. Drives like an old CVT. I towed a loaded 5x8 Uhaul over a thousand miles and the truck is still solid feeling!! Now for TRD to make a Supercharger and life would be complete.

I seriously doubt the average person can tell the difference between a 2nd & 3rd Generation Tacoma.

You can always tell the difference driving a newer model. I'd be willing to bet our 10 would feel a lot different than a 15. Just from parts wear and then having made a few settle changes. Go test drive a 16 and you'll see

When they reduce the NVH by 40%+, the average person can probably tell that. I've driven a 2nd Gen, and the 3rd Gen does seem quieter and smoother.

I'm not having any issues. I had some minor fit/finish problems to deal with immediately (crooked grille and interior trim not all the way in place) but it's been great so far. I loved my 2nd Gen, even though the tailgate was weak, the rear suspension was weak, the cab was loud and it had a driveline vibration that could stir paint cans. It's nice driving the 3rd Gen and not having flaws to overlook.

I think what you're seeing as "so many issues" is in direct correlation with the growth of internet users, as well as a lot people making mountains out of molehills. The first 2nd gen owners probably had just as many questions and small hiccups but didn't bother posting about them because it was 10 years ago! Also look at what types of issues are being brought up in the 3rd gen forums . "It's making a weird noise." or "The head unit needs to be replaced" or "The glue popped off from the hood skin and had to be fixed." All of these complaints (minus the one poor soul that had serious oil consumption issues) are minor compared to bending tailgates, squatting rear ends, and a driveline vibration that rattled your teeth.

The first of any new gen is going to have some problems, but I think Toyota did well with this new gen. I had the first of the 8th gen civics and it had electrical problems, suspension problems, and ultimately a cracked engine block due to faulty casting at the factory. So it could always be worse.

A little premature to make that statement. These trucks are too new and still going through their break-in periods. There's a big difference between Joe Schmoe in the factory forgot to align & tighten bolt #2346 VERSUS engineering and manufacturing failures. Engineering & Manufacturing failures will usually show up later, after things have fully worn in and seated themselves into a 'long term' comfort zone. It's when those 'seated items' don't stay seated and wear out in short term.

I've been cruising Toyota/Tacoma forums since 1999 and there's been the same complaints & issues posted back then as there are today. Perhaps now...there's just a higher volume of people on the forums. I'm glad people people post their issues and complaints - it makes the rest of us more aware of what we could experience. It's not anything different than buying a 60" TV and reading ALL the reviews on Amazon and searching online for the best make/model.

I love my truck, I do have the vibration and I do have the whistle unfortunately. The transmission seems to be getting better with its shifts even though I wish it wouldn't hunt so much on the interstate. I'm hoping the dealership can solve my problems.

Wind noise is always hard for the manufactures. While they do a lot of wind tunnel testing, that doesn't give you real world conditions. Things like cross winds, swirling winds, drag from cars passing by... Ect. All have different impacts. And when they create their test mules, they have to cover them so images don't leak before the big release. These covers will render most wind noise issues non existent. People fail to understand that. Almost every vehicle made in the past 10-15 years has some type of wind noise tsb. Some times there is a quick and easy fix. Other times it's a huge engineering nightmare. If you don't believe me google 2015 Tahoe noise issue. Was just reading an article today about how people are getting sick from driving them. Gm doesn't fully know where the problem is originating from or how to fix it. They even think it maybe the structure of the roof, but at the same time are replacing tons of other drive components.
