We have an 07 Tacoma with a pop-up camper on it. I'd like to beef up the suspension and do a 3" lift for our off-road camping. I've done a lot of forum reading on lifts but still am not sure about best options. I have some mech. experience and budget of less than $500. Thanks!

Your best option at this point would be the keep saving or go for a smaller lift option, less than 2.5".

With a 3" lift you're going to have to replace the stock UCA (upper control arms) with aftermarket to get the wheel alignment right again. That alone would probably blow your budget. If you stay below 2.5" in he front you can get away with using your stock UCA's.

For the rear, with that much weight you're probably going to want to replace the rear springs with a heavy duty leaf pack to handle the weight of your camper.
You might want to look into an airbag setup as well.

I don't think you'll be able to get your desired results with your current budget. So if I was you I'd just keep counting those pennies!

ok, now the uca posts are making sense, thank you! If I did a 2.5" lift would you still do the heavy duty springs? I guess making sure the suspension is right is more important than the lift. (though I would like some) Thanks for your reply!
