Question on swapping grills…highly considering getting a DB grill, but to justify the cost, was wondering if anyone knows or has experience selling their used grill? I'd hope my TRD sport grill had some value to it in the parts market:)

A lot of the TRD grills are up for sale from what I have seen so no they are not worth much.

No clue, but I guess I'd hope for at least $100US plus shipping?

I would then paint your bezel white then leave Toyota emblem chrome.

I dunno, I think the little bit of chrome looks good with the headlights because those are chrome. If you took the headlights apart and blacked them out (since we have projectors, don't need the reflective bits right?) then I would say paint the grill trim body color or black it out too.

edit: going back, looking at the headlight, I guess the highbeam is a reflector so can't really black that out... would just leave chrome rim to compliment the headlights. It looks clean, leave it :)

So... went to a local body shop today to get an estimate on painting my grille. The owner looked at it for about 30 seconds, made some grumbling noises and then told me he would do it of I wanted but I would not be happy with the result. He said trying to sand down the chrome in all the nooks and crannies of the TRD grille would take so long, the labor hours would be pretty high and expensive and also said even a pro paint job would end up cracking and peeling once the road debris hit it, especially since there would be so many edges exposed.

He's probably right and any shop that would be willing to do the work without explaining the issues is probably just after the $.

So, back to the old drawing board. Leaning SR5 grille but may wait a bit to see if any other good aftermarket options arise.

Why is your plate hanging so low in other pic? Seems like your asking for damage if you are off road a lot

It does not hang any lower than the plastic under the bumper. In California we have to run a front plate and I didn't want to drill the bumper or have that big ugly license plate bracket. I don't rock crawl but I do get muddy and I've had not problems yet.

I did, black outer bezel & black taco logo....thought about doing the mesh
black as well, leaving the bars & hex around the logo alone, still undecided.

I have the SR, truck and grille. But I like the TRD chrome grille better for looks. Is it metal or just shiny plastic?

I'm not a huge fan of all the plastic. If it didn't cost over a couple hundred I'd much prefer an all black metal mesh grille with no emblem or logo at all.
