I've gotten over 120K on original Toyota pads - different models of Toyota. Have done the same on other Asian SUVs.

It boils down to the type of driving you do. Mine is mostly highway. If you're doing stop-n-go all day long, you likely won't see what I have.

Also - some people ride their brakes. That will kill them quickly.

I had over 100K on my old 2000 when I got rid of it and never had to change front or the rear brakes, my old 2008 still had plenty of meat left on them when I traded at 80K.

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
    $0.

You should find a quality independent mechanic that has some modern tools, like computer access to AllData or other commercial software to help them with details on various marquees.

Most of the normal wear items on these trucks are nothing special in terms of mechanical skills or tools.

    Something wrong...

Take your foot off the brake pedal when driving.

    Stock for now...
Two weeks ago I changed out the pads and pins on my pharmacist's '02 4Runner - @ 250,000 miles , original pads , rotors and pins . He's owned it since new , never been in the shop and he documents the snot out of everything . Had me do the job since he could not get those pins to budge , they were stuck good and one on RF had to be drilled out on both ends . He did not get rotors as I recommended , his pads had almost .250" left and rotors spec'd out with plenty of thickness yet so they are staying . No heat cracks or signs of heavy glazing on those rotors either . Right front caliper will have to be swapped out soon , two inboard pistons are starting to lose the rubber boots and i didn't have any that size in stock . I'm still scratching my head how he's managed to get that many miles on the oem brakes , but hat's off to him anyway . He's mid-50's and evidently drives quite lightly....

If you use engine braking and time our stops without using your brakes, I can see them lasting that long.

I've gotten 100k out of the front pads. Bought Toyota pads to replace. Well worth it compared to those, "lifetime," warranty pads you get at the land of fuzzy dice and dual wiper blades.

As you can see when we're seniors, our minds goes sooner than the brake pads.
Just in case you want to know my weeny lasted longer than my brakes.

Just got quoted $270 dollars for new pads and for the dealer to grind down rotors. Sounds fair to me, although I will still call around and hear other quotes. By the way my truck is 2010 with 60,000 miles on it. Hope that helps.

    7.5 years and 80k miles.

They had a few thousand more miles left in them but didn't want to have to deal with it during the winter.

One size bigger tire then stock.
I just changed my front pads out with 170000 on them. They were the originals. Rotors were still good. :)
It's a five speed and I downshift a lot rather then use brakes. Most of the time I use the pedal more for the brake light then actual braking.
I guess it is habit from driving trucks :)

I know, I'm a first gen, but the 99 I just picked up only has 62k miles on it. I had to replace the pads because they were worn, but they were factory pads from 1999 haha.
