I think Hitler designed the Ipod.

Get a regular MP3 player. I have a Sansa Fuze 4gig and its great! And since you're probably running windows, you won't need to install that abomination they call itunes.

A windows based MP3 is alot easier to use. A PC sees it as a USB flash drive, so there is no software to install other than drivers. They play mp3's so there is no file converting, or DRM crap. AND...this is the best part....they cost less.

But if you want to be cool like that kid on the mac comercial, go get an ipood

I would've bought one of these if it came with 80gigs of space. It'll come with time....

if you are gonna wanna have video or pics, get an ipod. if its for music only, ipods are way too expensive, get any random mp3 player, htey are all pretty much the same except for capacity.

Following up on this thread...I pulled the trigger on an 80gb Zune last week. I got it from a TW member who bought it new and never used it.

I've been busy organizing my MP3 library and ripping older CD's. I loaded most of what I have and it only filled about 15% of the Zune. I have a lot more space to fill! I plan to put a few movies on and that will take up some space.

So far, I love this thing. I never had an iPod to compare to but I imagine it is very similar. The difference is in the software. I am using the Zune software right now but don't think I will once I get settled. I may try Windows Media Player in the near future. Any other suggestions for Zune software?

It also sync's wirelessly in my house. It connects through my router and can sync music, video or other downloads (podcasts) all without connecting it with a wire. It can also connect to any wifi hotspot and download music, video or games. Very cool stuff!

Now I just need to build my music collection...which I am trying to do without buying the songs.

Oh and FYI...www.oimoio.com has ridiculously cheap music - like $1.50 for entire albums. Each song is like $.10-.16. That crushes iTunes expensive $.99 / song deal.

Owning apples products isn't about being cool, It's about having great reliable hardware and software. Nothing comes close to their hardware or software.

You don't need itunes to use an iPod.
IPods play non DRM mp3s downloaded from anywhere.
IPods have an indexed library so searching for music is instant.

I have gone through a dozen "budget" mp3 players and they all failed. My iPod is going on 5 years old. sitting in my truck from -10 degrees to 110 degrees. Not 1 problem.

Awesome! You'll love not having to carry CD's around with ya anymore.

Thanks for the link also!! Do you know... say for instance, you accidentally delete music files... Does that website allow you to redownload them for free (if you originally purchased it from them)? Just curious...
