    Hey guys,

I've been studying this for atleast a week now and want more opinions because I can't find any good answers. I want a 6" lift for my Tacoma (I know a bunch of guys say it's unessary but it's what I think looks best) and not sure what brand to get. I know obvisouly the more you pay the better quality lift you'll get. I'm still going through college so don't have all the money in the world for a lift, tires, rims so I would like to buy an average priced lift. I don't go off-roading much at all other than riding through the hunting property just because every off-roading place around where I live has been closed off to the public. A lot of guys said rough country 6" lift with 2" leveling kit would be best for me since I don't off road much.. What do you guys think? Thanks for the help!! Also any ideas for rim/tire set up with the 6" lift?

if you cant afford "all the money in the world for tires, lift, rims etc" then you cant afford to fix shit when it breaks....I would save the cash to buy it all at once with some left over for breakage when you go out to "test" it out. Just my opinion FWIW

That's what I'm saying. I'm buying it all at once and want to know what kind to buy. That's why I asked what kind not if I should...

I don't really want to spend over 3-4K but then again I don't know how much a decent lift runs. So I could go over a little if needed for quality

6" lift, 18" rims, black lights
You are right a 6" lift looks good on a taco. It makes it look a lot bigger and more sporty.
I did my 2 years ago and I would it again. I got a Fabtech 6" lift with 18" wheels and of course some ass tires: 295/70 R18. I had a shop to do it so it was a $5500 damage, but let me tell you the satisfaction when I went to pick it up and saw the difference... worth every penny. I did a few more mods to give it a more sporty look and it looks great.
It feels great and I never regret I did although the cost, but I bought mine in 2004 brand new and decided to dump some cash after 10 years. Given how it runs I'll keep it for another 10 years at least so I will for sure amortize my costs.

So you are going to stack the Rough Country with a 2 inch level kit? You do not want to stack lift. Most are here recommend avoiding Rough Country.

Thanks for the help, No ones told me about fabtech, how's your ride quality? I'll have to do a little more saving in order to get it but like you said it'll be worth it. And how much offset did you run on your 18's?

Thanks for telling me that lol! I would have never knew it would have been bad. So how would you go about lifting the truck and also giving it the level look without stacking kits? I really don't want to mess the quality of this truck up or the ride and would love the lifted/ leveled look and also done right.

It's not going to give you the lift you're looking for.

When it says "6 inch lift" its only lifting the front that much. Itl lift rear 4-5".

You can choose form or function. You can buy the db lift and realise its mostly for looks and you still have the stock suspension just dropped down. OR, you can spend a little more and get a 3" coilover/uca setup that will outperform and ride better than the db kit.

Ahh well thanks for that info! These lift makers really don't tell you all the downfall of buying their kit... Will you be switching lifts anytime? And if so are you going to stay with the pro comp just stage 2 lift instead? Or are you just going to upgrade the coilovers? Truck is nice in the pics!

Gotcha! I didn't know it only raised the front actually 6". So, your saying if I wanted looks I would get the db kit which would in return raise the front 6" and the back approx 4-5" but if I wanted performance off-road wise I would get the coilovers which would raise the truck only 3"? Sorry lol the only lift I've ever dealt with was a 2002 Silverado that only used torsion bars so I'm new to all these other lift options. Thanks for yalls time!

Hey, i wouldn't blame you it sounds like me if I was in that situation haha :D but yeah I've tried talking to the off roading stores near me and all they want to do is rip me off with crap (guessing because they know I don't know anything about these lifts) they try to feed me these low quality no name lifts and labor for a price higher than named brand stuff lol. And yes the 3" lift kinda sounds good due to how cheap it is and everyone seems to love it...

Hmmm... Never thought of something like that. Defiantly going to try that or next time I see that very nice white shiny lifted Tacoma ride down the road I might have to chase him down and get some info. Or follow him until he walks in a store and go check out the set up hahaha...
