2012 Honda CR-V loaded (leather, nav, etc...) I told her she had to pick something she would enjoy driving and we test drove a few comparable vehicles.

Long story short we paid $21,900 and they got us for $1300 for the extended warranty. Vehicle has 44,000 miles and like I said she liked it. Looks like we're back on the monthly vehicle payment thing for a few years. Anyone out there have any experience with these Honda CR-V's ???

Nice SUV's. I would try and get your $1300 back and skip the extended warranty.

Would've picked the Forester instead for better handling and better AWD system, but the CR-V is good enough as an appliance.

Congrats with your purchase! I like them; they're comfortable, surprisingly roomy (to me) and reliable as hell. You'll easily get 200,000mi out of one.

Honda or Toyota: you won't go wrong with either.

When I bought my Taco, we sold the Corolla, and my wife took my 2009 RAV4. I still love my '09 RAV4...V6...goes like snot. Can't say anything about the RAV4 remodel. Can't get a V6 anymore. Love my Taco more.

Oh, and in-laws have a CRV, base. Seems bulletproof, 4 banger...drive your truck.

    ;)

Thanks for your honest thoughts guys. I agree we paid more than we needed to, I let her handle everything while I kept the 5 yr old busy. She gets "embarrassed" when I negotiate with salespeople. The extended warranty really suprised me though, the wanted $2600 initally. I've never paid more than $1000 for any of my tacos.

Let us know how it turns out. Me and the GF have been looking at a CRV/forester/Venza whatever as long as it's an AWD suv havnt found the right one yet.

My wife has put 10 or 12k miles on her 2014 base model CR-V. She really likes the car. It gets great gas mileage for an automatic--better than my 4 banger, stick shift Tacoma. You made a good choice.

We bought a 2009 CR-V EX-L AWD in 2012.... 15K mi on it the time. Paid what you did, actually. Just flipped over 50k mi. No issues at all. Just change oil based on oil % on dash, changed front pads this past spring, just changed the original battery (dated 2008) last month, cut the heat shield off the cat last month too.

Awesome vehicle. Gets 20 mpg. Smooth ride. Quiet. Reliable.

Good to hear, I think my girl is starting to have buyers remorse as the 60 month car payment slog starts to sink in.

We looked at all the mini suvs, Rav4, Crv, Mazda zoomie thingy, ended up with 15 Forester premium, (+1 up from base model) has heated seats, heated mirrors, moonroof, etc, more features than anything we looked at or comparable with AWD for 1-3k less than AWD in any of the other models. It gets 34mpg on hwy and around 25 city.

Ya, tried to steer the wife towards Subaru as well, I know a guy that got hit damn near head on and walked away from it with very "minor" injuries. He is enjoying a happy and healthy retirement now thanks to that Forester. Anyway wives are like horses; you can lead them to water but you can't make 'em drink!

I did like the Hondas interior better but she HAD to have AWD so it was an easy choice. She still won't drive if it snows but still NEEDS it.

Uhh, sorry Subaru fans, the CRV is at least as good in snow and ice, and won't fall apart. 100k plus on my wife's 2008, thing is still like new. Great lil car, wagon thingy. You made the right choice. Plus WAY more room than the Subie, or BMW X3. Much as I hate to admit, it's better on ice than my Taco!

Volvo jeez!?!?!?!, I'm old enough to remember back in the day if someone in the neighborhood bought a Volvo we all gathered around their family and helped to have them committed. I hear they have come along way though.

Ha ha!! Not anymore! Right up there with the Germans IMO!

Still #1 in safety, but emphasis on performance and luxury. The xc60 r-design has 325 hp!
