So my head on my 3.4 recently went to shit. I bought a engine with a rod knock to scrap the head off of it. I replacwd the head and fired it up and it runs. In park or neutral it will rev up to the limiter but when i put it in gear i have almost no power and the rpm's SLOWLY go up. Any ideas? The only thing that went bad in the process was i broke the connector to the power steering pressure switch. Could that be it?

There could be a lot of things happening here.
Did you have the head or block machined?
Did you replace the head gasket?
Did you install the head using any sort of manual or just slap it on there?
Did you rebuild the head or have it inspected for damage?

My first impression is maverick air entering the head or block, creating a opportunity for uncontrolled acceleration (revving) and as a result low compression (no power under load).

Is this an auto transmission? Sounds like its starting in a high gear.

It is an auto. I dont know why it would be starting in a high gear. I drove perfectly before and i haven't touched the tranny

It doesn't rev on its own. The head was inspected and installed by manual instructions
