I have a 4 Cylinder 5 speed 1996 Tacoma and was thinking about getting a bigger engine and was wondering if anyone else has done this or thought about doing this.

    used to have - 99 2.4L I4 5 lug & 04 prerunner v6
you can go from a 2.4 to a 2.7 but if you want to go v6 then its a huge deal and you need a parts truck for everything needs to be swapped over except the frame and body, wiring harness, ECM, motor mounts, tranny mounts, tranny, struts, full exhaust, fuel lines, etc. etc.

Correct. It would cost less to sell the truck and buy a different one with the engine you want.
