I greased mine at 500 miles [first oil change to get out the machining swarf and break in particles], they took a lot more grease then I expected. 2015 DCSB TRD. I didn't really notice any signs they had been greased other then slight assembly grease for the bearing assembly. Slip joint seemed completely dry.

From long experience in the motorcycle world, I've concluded that in Japan grease must cost more per ounce than platinum. First thing I do on any bike I buy, new or used, is to disassemble the chassis and suspension to the point that I can get to all the bearings and grease them. From the factory, they have virtually none.

Just checked mine. Took a few pumps in one, and the other 2 rear zerks aren't holding grease - stringing right back out. I did wipe them clean prior. Will deal with those and check the front ones tomorrow when I have some light.

Good catch. Wondering if toyota failed to grease the fittings during manufacturing. I can see these failing right after warranty ends.

Does 2nd gen Tacos have grease fittings too? I thought I read somewhere the chassis did not need lubing.

The u-joints come with grease from the supplier. It's not necessary for Toyota to add more at assembly. If you feel you need to add more its really not necessary, but if it makes you feel better do it.

Spicer states, at least with their rebuild kits, they only ship with enough grease to protect the needlebearings. More must be added after assembly.

How many zerks should we expect in the non off-road versions. Anyone know where the specs are on the grease, couldn't find it in the manual.

I don't even do my own oil changes. Idk how to do anything on trucks or have the time. Why can't I have toyota do this? Seems like this is something that should be done if I pay them 36.5k ...

Its probably a good time to start teaching yourself then, you know... since you paid them 36.5K

    You would think...
You might be able to get the dealer to do it the first time, if you can convince them they were never lubed. Good luck with that.
It's every 5,000 under special operation or 15,000 under normal operation.
Toyotacare does not cover special operation.
$20 for grease and gun, plus 20 minutes, is whole lot less painful for me than screwing with the dealer.

I noticed today, that little 440hZ harmonic whine TacoBella's been talking about is gone.
Also, might just be my imagination, but everything feels smoother; acceleration, braking, ride...
