need help please. called dealer today to find out if my taco has the ability to change door lock settings. #1 default unlock is a 2 push to open all doors, i don't like this because drivers door actuator is getting double the unlock cycles on it. plus never fails i have to get in rear when its locked uugggh :annoyed:. i know not a big deal and no its not but if it can be changed to my preference that would be good to know. the service writer i talked told me there is no way to know unless they tap into my specific vehicle and try to change it? my dealer was great with the sale part but seems like their service department is so busy they don't go out of their way for shit. he told me probably 65.00 if they can change it. #2 I also would like to make it so all doors lock when u select drive or something similar. seems to me it should be as simple to know if its possible on my model! for example base model (no) TRD (yes).
If anyone knows if these would be options on a 2015 TRD sport id appreciate the knowledge.
    thank you
    :taco:

#2 is solved by getting the factory alarm system activated.

You won't get it without it. It's an alarm function.

    Yes. Or an aftermarket alarm.

$65 at the dealer isn't going to do it. I'll save you that trip.

Ive got a viper that solves both your issues. Unlocks everything on one push, and locks everything when I release the parking brake and put it in gear. I love those functions. Also locks the doors after they have all been closed for 30sec. Awesome cause I forget to lock them sometimes.

Any alarm can do those basic functions.

Viper and Clifford are the way to go.

Good stuff. I know both have remote start options as well....any experience with either?

IF I did go that route, I'd like to know for damn sure there'd be no issues with the remote start and my truck....ever!

I have never had an issue with the remote start. From SoCal weather to 6 degrees when I took my truck east, remote start worked the whole time. I had it installed by Best Buy, and took it back to see if it could auto lock when I turn my truck on, or off and walk away. They programmed it to do both. There where a bunch of things I didn't even know the Viper could do that they showed me. I have a stick, and the remote start works with that too.

Had a very expensive Clifford system with remote start on a previous vehicle (show car). I loved it.

Stick with Viper or Clifford and you'll be okay, and a competent installer!

Yes, a good install is key. My regular guy at the best buy I usually go to was on leave so had it installed by another best buy and it was horrid. Dicked the entire thing up. From bad placement of the brain, to sensors that went off for no reason, everything that could be boched was. Had my regular guy do a re-install and haven't had a problem since.

With these devices can you chose to program some features and not others? Like all your features but the doirs locking after 30 seconds. When I'm staying at the family farm I like to leave my truck unlocked all the time. No one around to steal anything and I always forget my keys when I walk out to grab something lol

Only if you have the dealer installed alarm.

Every truck has it installed, technically - they just charge you the $385 or whatever it is and they put in the activation key.

    Could be.

    I guessed a number. :anonymous:

But anyway, the auto lock at speed function is in the alarm itself.

Yup. I had each feature added one by one as I thought of them. Its a simple ON/OFF in the programming for each one.
